[QUOTE=haj;
On the street the Karate Monkey already feels much better than my aluminum Focus with shitty Suntour forks.. and it's lighter as well.[/QUOTE]let the Monkey out of its cage, take it on trails, take it on bridleways, take it in the forest, spin on it, rag it up hill and down hill, load it up to within an inch of its life, tour on it for months on end, carry kids on it to school, do anything on it but let it live!

*m.f: I live in Copenhagen, Denmark, so I went to Hareskoven - 26km long single-track plus lots of other nice paths, part of it's kind of flat, other part is very hilly... I only did about 15km today.
The Karate Monkey really handles nicely, riding on WTB ExiWolf 2.3 inch-tires.

sounds great, nice one. I imagine that fairly soon after leaving the city you are in forest.
cool to have a Copenhagener on here, there are lots of us working in cycling here who look at your country leading the way with cycling, you no -doubt read the Copehagenize blog with all its great sections?
what I would like to ask is, do all employers make it worthwhile for employees to ride bikes to work? what sort of initiatives are there provided by the state to get people commuting on bikes (if you need any), thanks for considering. -

Actually there's no real benefit cycling to work in Copenhagen, except you don't have to use the overcrowded public transportation. Also there's cycling paths next to all roads so it's almost faster biking no matter where you need to go.
The parking fees in inner city also keeps lots of people on the bike I guess, since it's really expensive.
edit; Oh, and the closest forrest to me is Hareskoven, a 10km ride, but theres several places to ride MTB in state owned forests north of Copenhagen, and they are not that far apart.. Just saw that a guy made a Garmin GXP-file with a route that's 62km long with only a few kilometers "transportation sections" on normal road.. Perhaps I should try it later this year when I get in shape :)

Could'nt have it on my 29er though. My Hope hydraulic levers would'nt fit it.
Doesnt look as utility bike friendly as the midge because of the angled drops (what maks them so great for off-road I imagine).
hhmmmmm. I need an excuse to get some..... -

Go ahead, tell your good lady that I said it was fine.

Tempted. If did'nt love my mini-pros so much. I currently have zero headset spacers and a flipped stem, to get a good fit. So a dirt drop bar would'nt be a bad thing.

Brixton Cycles REALLY needs to sell their Karate Monkey. I'm tired of looking at it, it needs to go.
It's pretty sweetly specced and it's huge. If you are over 6' and need a 29er, will you please come buy the bleeding thing? I'll sell it cheap.

BTW, now that the Roubaix is over, can we have a 29er trail session?

Let's talk rims.
As in... I'm looking for a 29er rim that isn't too wide (for some definition of that... more thin than fat), that is light and strong, that is designed with disc brakes in mind... and if it could be aesthetically pretty that would be nice.
Basically something for cyclocross and disc brakes. Now I'm running 4-pot brakes and this is why if it was a disc specific rim I'd feel happier (they make the nipple bits much stronger). But what I've seen so far has all been 26" still.

Mavic TN719.
really solid, narrow enough to take a 35c cx tyre, and disc only.

apologies for posting this in 2 threads (it's not 29er specific either) but most of the mtb people seem to read this thread.
I have a quick suspension question
I put a cable tie on the top part of the forks then did a wheelie and slammed the front of the bike down (as close as I can get to a jump/dh trail in my garden. The cable tie is now about 15mm from the fork crown, is this a bit close for comfort? I don't want to bottom out on them.
