^ aha have been 'chatting' to Charliethebikemonger about those Salsa bars- he really recommends them so are a definite possibility for the future as are the Cowbells
I've got the 46cm Cowbells on my road bike and have been very happy with them

Had my midge bars set up in a happy medium position. Took some adjusting but worked great when dialed.
You dont want to be on the flats of the drops on the road. Gets a bit wide.
So youre on the hoods. Thus these cant be too high. You want to be in the drops off-road. So these cant be too low.
Doable, and worth it.

So I test rode the Transition two9 yesterday......its a LOT nicer than the Salsa El Mariachi.
That was a shock, as the Salsa is very nice.
The transition got up to speed a lot quicker and was easier to hold there, as well as feeling a whole lot more 'flickable'......Love it!
So, I've asked him to work out what price he will give me on my Airborne Ti frame and Manitou R7 Absolute fork......Then see if it's worth my while doing it that way.I NEED this bike!

29er wheel bags......do they exist?
-
• #2610
If you haven't any tyres on them, yes. It's just called a wheel bag.
-
• #2611
unfortunately it going to be a PITA to take them off every time I put the bike in the car.
-
• #2612
if this is just for avoiding getting mud in your car, what about bin bags?
-
• #2613
My mavic bags take a 29er wheel with tyre fully inflated. My preferred continental double bag does not.

so, let's go to swinley
when does it arrive?
-
• #2618
^^^^ Very nice! Nothing really wrong with those components. Obviously the frame eventually deserves some flashy stuff, but some gradual upgrading will make you appreciate it all the more.
Might be replacing bits quicker than you'd hoped if you ride through that Swinley sand over the Winter though!

cheers BN. I have an Airbourne Valkyrie Ti road bike, with recent upgrades to SRAM Force 10 groupset and new Mavic Elite wheelset. Losing the Veloce 10 speed groupset and old Mavic open pro wheels has made the bike wow, on the road.
Plan to venture out to the sticks at weekends with the Lynskey when we return from our epic Prosecco Tour, DJ
So South Wales (Afan), North York Moors & Dales and regular Home County outings (Swinley/Dorking) will be my training patches over winter and before we head to Megeve for alpine trails and later to Northern Spain's St James camino route.
Also looking forward to commuting when the snow/slush returns to London.Al

So I test rode the Transition two9 yesterday......its a LOT nicer than the Salsa El Mariachi.
Tough looking frames those. designed for more "gnarly" riding than the Salsa. Good choice if you love your downhilling.
Along the same lines of the new breed of 29ers, I'd really like a Canfield Nimble 9.
At £800 though, it's just not happening.

That sounds sweet. More blingy, lighter wheels, with wider rims might be nice. But then we always want more blingy wheels.
If youre riding a lot of small sharp bumps (small rock, or in my case roots). The coil fork may well be a blessing in disguise. Slightly heavier than lighter air models. But a decent coil fork will react to the small stuff really nicely. Part of me did'nt want my Lefty shock 'up graded', for just this reason.
Congrats. It'll be awesome.

That's lovely! Stock sizing is a little too small. However.... They appear to do custom :-)
Thanks! Will investigate further. Liking the orange too!
Jumping in little late but just to say that we've recently managed to drop our prices a little. Also, as all our frames are built to order, we can offer 'slightly' custom sizing on the production frames for no additional cost. This only really works if we can reuse our existing tubesets and if it doesn't make the geometry too wacky.
Email me if you need more info.

Stanton slack line looks the nuts too!
I just need to raise some funds whilst deciding! -

I no longer do the technical mtb'ing that this type of bike was made for ( did I ever? ) & it's totally inappropriate for my local area.
But I still want it :-(
I have a set of barely used (3 rides) woodchippers lurking around somewhere. They're the 25.4 clamp 46cm version.
They have had exactly 1cm cut off of each end, but there's still tons of bar left. If you're interested, I'll go & look for them this evening & send you some pics.
I reckon £15 + postage?
