I have these in the draw next to me.
Very shiney, and very very wide.

Stop it!
Have you decided on wheels yet?

I'd imagine that you'd have the portion of the seatstays within the main triangle being the contact point while carrying the bike.
Too far back, you would be hitting your head on the saddle. At least that's certainly not where I shoulder my 'cross bike

Have 2 Vicious cycles - Graceful fat sheba rims in the post. 80mm wide, which is about the max for anything non- snow/sand based. So there's a touch of versitility. Looking around they give a nice profile with standard fat tyres, and a very round profile with the 4.7" ones. According to owners own weights, they are about 1200g a piece. I plan to drill them down to <850g.
The On-one (AFAIK), Fatback, 2012 9zero7, and Mukluk*, will all take 170mm rear, and 135 front hubs. So I'll probably pick up some fatback imported hubs, and lace them up with some super comp spokes.
(*might be rear specific disc mounting for front. Cant remember. ED: Yes it is, as are the steel and alu 9zero7s. Bloody PITA)

Ah yeah. I did see those in the Winter bike thread. They're going to look amazing drilled out.
It appears my fat-bike budget may be redirected to a new child-carrying machine so plans are on hold :-/

I hope to pull the trailer with it. I'll be restricted to snow depth, because of the ground clearance of the trailer. Plus I'll need to avoid ice, so as not to crash it*.
(*again. I've crashed the trailer before, but the kids are usually just thankful daddy is'nt on skiis. I've proper crashed them in the 'pulk')

Yeah. Could be a good concept, with a little flattening of the base of the TT just there. Just a little hammer work.
I get get the impression the design is focused on looks. Which it does really fecking well.
Also, and I'm probably way off on this, but why the horizontal TT? Do cross racers have a monk like ability to pull in their balls, whenever they need to put their feet down?
Looks amazing though.
My understanding (and I've never ridden cross) is that a higher top tube = quicker and easier to get your shoulder under, so you can make faster transitions.

But in reality there isn't usually that much shouldering is there? A lot of just quickly carrying the bike just above the ground.
I usually shoulder my bike a few times on each ride due to pesky stiles all over the place, although I can't say my flattened under side top tube is really that noticeable... -

I shoulder my 29er under the saddle. Dont think I could get my arm into the main triangle. Its tiny.
My CX frame has zero standover. Something that is allways at the front of my mind whenever we venture off-road.

Standover is not an issue for me. I am either on the saddle on the bike or off the bike because I have just gone over the bars. Never get into the feet down, balls on cross bar stance.

woohoo
headset cup has arrived, fork and hub conversion kit are in the post, due to arrive tomorrow
off to my friendly lbs (bikelab in richmond) to have the heaset and fork installed on Friday
groupset is on order - but will have to wait another 6 weeks for the brakes (but it will mean that i can then integrate the shifters with the brakes)
hoping to have bling fork and bars in action at the weekend
slowly it all comes together

Finally ridable ... no drop bars yet as I'm searching for some used Versa VSR 8 (http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/BLVEVRS8/versa-vrs_8-brake-levers-pair-for-alfine-8sp-) for Alfine 8 + Disc brakes
(didn't want to build a new wheelset, since i had this one already)
also some other parts are propably just temporary on there for now ...but already great fun to ride!

Hello Ed, how are you?
-
• #2145
cheers, mine is just waiting for the new xt brakes, at which point the sti's will be attached to the brakes (losing a little extra clutter from the handlebars)
then the bike will be fairly much perfect - by which i mean it will meet/exceed all my desires/requirements
-
• #2146
Nice bike DJ....jealous of all you folks...I can't wait to get a MTB again...but fuck, the new XT chainsets are damn ugly in my opinion. :[
-
• #2147
Should've seen Trek's latest offering, they even have the 'extreme' sweep-back handlebar;
Your for £1200.
-
• #2148
but i also like DA7900 so clearly have no fucking clue
i do like the double chainset, and it actually gives me more useful gears than my previous triple (i never got into the super granny gear and the top end was so much more than i actually needed for anything offroad)
i cant wait for some time to actually go and use the damn thing, but am probably about to be fired from work so may have some weekdays coming up soon
-
• #2149
James, what the size of the double XT?
-
• #2150
i went for the xc (the "compact") version as opposed to the race ones
Good man.
pokes tongue out at Andy
