I didn't know Paul well but had the pleasure of riding with him on the Clacton jaunt and sharing a pint afterwards. It's a warm legacy to have generated so many good vibes on this forum. I hope I can leave this life with as many good wishes.

.. I've nothing to add to the eloquent posts above, other than I'll miss you.

A couple of things have kept me from going out this evening but I'll be here at home raising some glasses to Paul. As others said, NYE will now always be a toast to Fiddy for me.

At a party at the moment and found myself thnking about the bigman.
Drove past the royal inn on the park where I met Paul for the first time and he wobbled away g
from the pub wasted hopeing for directions back west and heading directly into oncoming traffic, absolutely brilliant!Thought you were a nutter at the time and got to know you over the last couple of years, you always had time for a chat whether it was about the latest project or helping me with my house and plans to extend it all the while telling me of your plans for your new housing project.
I will miss you, shed a tear earlier reading some of the lovely things people have said in this thread, all ican say is that I hope I have half as many people who care about me when I head to the velodrome in the sky, and I can wait to see you there and find out what crazy machine you are riding!

Bless him, I only met Paul once - at Oxford Circus cutting a posh seatpost deal - he turned up 20 minutes late, some crap about traffic in Richmond holding him up - but I suspect he was posing at traffic lights with his ridiculously high end road bike - we spent 15 seconds talking about the seatpost deal and 40 minutes talking about bikes before he had to go off to meet some folk - lovely fella'.

We toasted Paul in snowy New England tonight with a 3 foot long drinking horn filled with home made mead.
I can only picture what his reaction to that would have been
"Oh. That's marvelous!"
