  • Not yet, but feel free to post it... this thread definitely needs entertainment.

  • If you need any help deleting posts in the move.. I'm sure you'll be fine. :P

    Here you go:

    I have an extremely dull video from my missus' bike;

Heading Down To The South Bank on Vimeo

  • At least there are no zoomed stills in there as filler Oli.

  • The events will have something done to it... in fact I'll do something this afternoon just to fill the gap.

You have a new tab on the header, Events.

That gives you a search for the latest Rides and the latest Events.

It is based on people using the naming convention of putting the ride date in the thread title in ISO date format YYYY-MM-DD.

So that sorts out finding the events and ordering them according to when they happen (rather than when the thread was last bumped).

  • Edscoble, i have watched your videos...

  • That has to be the most dull video ever posted on this site.

    It'll still get reposted everywhere.

  • I've setup a test site on the new server and it's working great... so perhaps tomorrow morning I will flick the DNS switch and send the traffic to the new machines.

I'm starting off with it configured for the lowest possible amount of RAM and disk possible and will be increasing the thresholds slowly to find the level that we need rather than just pay for an excessive and unused amount of hardware... the result will be that occasionally over the next week I will voluntarily take the site down to virtually insert RAM and extra disk capacity.

Upside to all of this... much faster site, slightly lower costs.

  • [*]Articles. I want to take the best info on the forum and present it in a more notable way so that it's the first stuff that people find. Stuff like cycle training, the great reviews, ride diaries, build journals, mechanics tips, highlighting stuff people are doing (the cycling entrepreneurs) etc... things that are getting lost in the noise in the forum but should be seen.

No mention at all about LISTS........?

    shakes head, looks dejected

  • Right... an update.

I've got high availability load balancing working, SSL is working, 2 of the three web servers are working, and the database is working.

Still outstanding and probably will be done tomorrow: Database replication (master + read slave) and mailing lists.

  • So that appears to have worked... it now looks like this:

  • As I just said in the Test test test thread (and should have said here), the DNS upgrade doesn't seem to have happened to me yet--I keep having to manually enter the IP address. Soon, no doubt.

Some attachments haven't worked (e.g., I get ''The image “http://static.londonfgss.com/attachments/18995d1260782150-lfgss.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors."), but otherwise all seems fine.

Ah, now it is displayed (after I edited the hosts file). :)

  • Argh it's all crashing 'n shit for me.

  • 504!

    aaaaargh!

  • I've been havin murders all day :-(

  • It keeps timing out for me.

  • Taking ages to load each page

  • 504 crazy even though I have the address in my host file

  • Pages are loading (if at all) at a rather relaxed pace.

I find it best to click on an LFGSS link, then leave it running in the background for a couple of minutes whilst it draws breath, girds its loins and so forth, and finally delivers a page at some later time.

  • Yeah, it's the load balancer ironically... I've been tweaking it at intervals throughout the day to try and find what works. Unfortunately it's a bit voodoo and I tweak it then have to wait long enough to see if it doesn't work.

  • We shouldn't be getting 504s, anyway, they should be renamed 5014s.

  • I've had four 504s in just a short while. It has somewhat dimmed my enthusiasm for my normal diet of forum fodder.

Emails to be sent out when its all working again?

  • The load balancer is being difficult... might swap haproxy out for nginx instead.

  • Something just happened, and its all whippety fast again?
