pft, i did it for the look, what would you recommend instead?
-
• #328
but a brooks is far superior.

Charge spoons on the other hand are much better.
will look into, cheers.

im still looking for the perfect saddle, closest currently is the arionne, got a stripped SLR as well, but i throw my bike about a bit too much and found it bruised my legs to fuck. in retrospect i probably should have tried the SLR unstripped first, the bucket i just found far too chunky.

Brooks, Charge, let call the whole thing off.
just try the Spoon, and then decided which one to go for, not everyone have identical arses.

im going for a stripped slr.
its gona be a super stealth/ninja bike. -

got a brooks pro on my steamroller, i reckon it looks a treat. Not sure how a long narrow b17 would look though. But you don't ride a brooks for looks do ya?

My steamroller this winter past. I'm in the market for a larger frame size.
-

hey guys
as some of you might have seen, I have been very heavily recommended to get a Steamroller instead of an IRO Angus (even though I still think the ahead stem is ugly...)
anyways, I took a look at the specs of the frame and saw that it has a pretty low BB (BB drop 70mm!)
has this ever led to any problems on your bikes? like pedal strike or anything? or that the cage hits the ground when your pushing the bike?cheers

i pedal clip occaisionally when turning hard but it has never led me to falling off. it may be more that i have massive pedals on (bmx ones with holdfast style straps) and the other day my strap got dragged through a dog poo.
-
• #337
I've never had a problem with pedal strike, but then i am running clipless pedals with 160 cranks.
-
• #338
I raced mine on the track and also for cyclocross and have never struck a pedal.
I also use 170 cranks, I've got long legs.
-
• #339
165 crank arms on mine with clipless pedals and no pedal strike.
used to get it on my old raleigh with 170's. lower bb. -
• #340
cheers. still hard to believe though when I see pics like this one: http://www.lfgss.com/post1139688-100.html
from the looks of it there just has to be the occasional pedal strike or at least some scratched pedal cages...
-
• #341
my pedal cages strike the ground when walking, but i don't give a toss. Though if you get the pace right, you can lean the bike the other way and play let's-see-how-long-i-can-go-with-no-cage-scrape

anyone had problems with the seatpost slipping? i have to put it back up every couple of days as it slips about a cm. using the stock clamp, 27.2 ea30 seatpost, greased tube and bolt, don't want to go tighter for fear of snapping the bolt.
-
• #345
^sounds like you either need an additional mm seatpost width or use a shim (from a drinks can )

yep! Got a carbon post though so always thought it was that? Just put some climbers grip dust thing on it though that supposedly should stop it slipping, and so far so good

i was told to HTFU by a housemate and tightened it more, didn't snap and hasn't slipped. yet. waiting for an almighty "bang!" whilst going along and the seatpost slamming.

I've tightened mine loads and don't really dare tighten it more. Seems to stay up now that it's chalked though

back to steamroller news, i am going for some 28c tires, a front basket, and freewheel.
Charge spoons on the other hand are much better.
