  • Ideal! Let us know when you have your first embarrassing fall because you can't get your foot out...we've all done it!

  • I don't imagine it will take long!

  • I'll probably jinx my next ride by saying this but I managed my commute to work today without tipping over, and I feel like I'm riding an entirely different bike. The difference is huge!

  • The issue is that you feel the difference, and so you remember to unclip. Once you get used to the new feeling... that's when you fall.

  • the tektro 539 arrived last friday and were more than fine surprisingly even had plenty of space to move the pads downwards still. havent even opened the box the 559's came in so they can go straight back to wiggle.

brand new front wheel and new brake pads = squeaky stop as I like to grab the brake to stop bike from moving forwards as I unclip and put my foot down at lights. but i expect that will go away soon enough.

feels like I'm riding a brand new bike again.

  • Ahhh. I'll try to keep that in mind. I've done about 100 miles with them so far but as you say I'm constantly thinking about the fact that I need to get my feet out when I stop.

  • Koolstop? them squeak sometime awfully!

  • koolstop salmon evry tiem

  • Also I spoke too soon about new bike feel, noticed what feels like a stiff link in the chain now. will replace this weekend. may even clean the drivetrain while i'm at it :-o

  • Late but for completeness that was a 700c trucker fork. The 26 would have been better but you'll struggle a bit to run decent size tyres AND guards with a 700c wheel.

  • @HatBeard @Stroller
It happened today ha ha ha. I was leaving the bike shop of all places, which is connected to a train station, and went to stop at a red light and just tipped over sideways. There must have been 100 people standing around ha ha ha.
Just scratched my bars a bit but nothing else happened thankfully. I knew it was coming and just held on and tipped over. Now that I've got that out of the way....

  • Haha. Welcome to the club.

  • nevermind, have a nice day 😊

  • Anyone got a 59cm steamroller for sellz?

  • What's that saddle?

  • Missing my steamroller atm, thinking of a winter conversion to fixed for my cross-check to fill the gap

  • If anyone's interested I've got a stock Monkey Butt red fork and Profile Airwing bullhorn/pursuit bar set up kicking around that I was thinking of moving on. Had about 3 months daily use and in good condition (though the bars where second hand already when I bought them). Comes with a Cane Creek TT lever, a Miche caliper and a spare BLB gold lever. Not sure on price really so DM an offer if you fancy a ready made set up!

  • There is his Pedalroom account, there's the same saddle on his actual steamroller. It's a Spe Phenom

  • This bike loves the risers, and I love this bike.

  • Agreed. I tried some pursuit bars on mine about a week ago, but they only lasted 24hrs before I chucked my flatbar/hydraulic disc setup back on it.

Edit: Noticed that you're running a disc too @tommmmmmm! Great taste. Stops faster = goes faster.

  • Yeah it's just a mechanical disc but it's a great addition.

I thought I was running the same forks as you as well, but in this picture they look pretty different. Maybe mine aren't Kinesis after all.

The only annoying thing is the toe overlap, but that's the 40mm tyres and clips and straps, and the benefit of those far outweigh the drawbacks.

  • Oh fuck me I just looked it up and it's a Van Nicholas fork. I'm going to stop riding down stairs!

  • This is so sick

  • Is anyone running a 650b roller with mudguards? I'd love to get one as a year round commuter but don't know if guards would fit over 45+ tyres

    this is beautiful
