  • Rad paint! Triton stock surly decals - take your pick from them, pretty sure they have black ones.

  • That's a good thought but I was thinking of some tasteful GASH or CUNT stickers for maximum standout.

  • Love the paint to! i was going to paint mine but i actually really like it in black, no real need to paint it.

I'm literally a BB tool away from building my steamroller by stealing parts from Vivalo, god dammit.

  • Thanks! Bob Jackson actually fucked the paint job up, the fade was supposed to be a lot more gradual but a communication error on their part meant it ended up like this. Could be worse I guess. It also took 9 weeks instead of the 4 they claimed it would take to begin with. So I won't use Bob Jackson again in hurry.

    You need a BB tool?

  • Jesus, you paid BJ prices for that? Pains me to say I'd send it back, not a fan.

  • Bit of a long story but I did it through Isambard's cycles who have been fantastic throughout. They're really nice people to deal with, can't recommend them enough. To compensate they gave me the trade price and because I didn't want to pronlong the agony I just settled for that.

Based on my albeit limited research I would say BJ are fairly competitive on price when it comes to paint. The respray service they offer also seems more thorough than others.

  • .

    You need a BB tool?

My mate borrowed it, so i can fit everything but the BB :/

Also i noticed my 53cm Steamroller is actually 55ctt, i always assumed they were measured ctt, i don't know why i only just noticed.

  • If you mean right to the top of the seat collar, yup.

They claim CTT, but it's more CTC.

  • Yeah to the very top i measure 55.5, seat collar is kinda long though.

  • I think surlys ruler is a bit out. All their frames seem to be nowhere near the quoted measurements. Why don't all bike companies just stick to the same measurement points, then we know where we stand?

  • Surly measure their CTT from center of BB to top of toptube (not top of seattube), so you get a few extra cms in by measuring CTT "normally"

    Edit:
You can see it here, when you check where the measurement of "Seat Tube Length" is made:

    This is mainly why.

  • Got the 'roller rolling :)

  • ^ nice. Hope you enjoy.

  • The latest setup. Longer cockpit feels good and might move the saddle back maybe 0.5cm.. Almost sold the bike earlier this year but now glad I didn't.

    more cosmetic changes coming..

  • Looks good!

  • Been totally regretting selling my roller recently. I can see another one on the horizon!

  • ^ What are you riding instead?

  • damn thats nice, fuck it i'm going to brixton cycles right now to look!!

  • I stripped my roller on friday, and dropped off the frame to Mario Vaz for repainting. New wheelset and Cambium saddle will be ordered at some point today.

  • Be wary, if you prefer to have a cut out, I would wait for the cut-out version, otherwise go for it.

  • That was one thing that was worrying me, I did not realise they were doing a cut-out version. I might wait for that.

  • Do any nearby shops have a test-saddle you could borrow for a longer ride? I was waiting for the cut-out version but on borrowing a normal one and putting a few hundred km on it it ended up being fine without... Maybe I didn't need a cut out in the first place though...

  • That's quite likely to be possible, I benefit from a cut out due to having an over sensitive underside, so the C17 was really comfortable and better than my B17, but lack of cut out like my Selle Anatomica mean I felt the pressure underneath.

  • Either way, I'm glad I was able to borrow one and test it out rather than wait for the cut out (end of year I believe...)
