    First sensible post for ages.

  • what a bunch of cockmunchers

Not just a bunch of cockmunchers, a bunch of LFGSS cockmunchers [/M&S Ad]

  • First sensible post for ages.

sensible is o.k but the chomping on tumescent members by angry internet activists is more amusing.

  • If someone says something personal about you to get a rise, aren't you a victim?

I'm not saying Duncan hasn't said stuff back (although I haven't noticed it quite as much as Graham) but saying 'he's just as bad' doesn't change the fact that Pisti started it all and keeps dragging it up again and again.

Like it or not Graham is the antagonist.

Definitely agree that Graham started it, but like I said Duncan putting on an act of being completely innocent is a pretty immature and devious thing to do. Graham's a cunt, but at least he doesn't hide it.

  • I thought that the banning was the last resort only for very serious cases.

  • I thought that the banning was the last resort only for very serious cases.

Would you say that a continued, unwarranted and unjustified campaign of vitriol against a member who won't even come on the forum anymore because of the abuse she received doesn't come under the category of a 'serious case'?

  • "very serious cases"

what like links to child porn, racist/nazi propaganda, baby eating, death threats etc?
or people calling people cuntz on an internet forum?

let me know so i can readjust my moral compass accordingly

Not being able to appreciate or understand someone's experiences doesn't justify your dismissal of them.

  • Graham sure can be a pain for someone, but I just think that he has never been too far to be banned, at least no more than many other members in other folkloristic polemic engagements.

  • Not being able to appreciate or understand someone's experiences doesn't justify your dismissal of them.

does that go for obtuse bastards too?

  • People on here can act like total pricks at times, and more often than not they get what they deserve - someone either calls them on it or they get reported/banned/a stern talking to or whatever.

Following someone around on a forum and attacking their posts and their character when they've nothing to warrant that sort of behaviour is totally unjustified - and to carry on doing it even when they've left the site is just pathetic.

  • People seem to forget that Epifania and her 'friends' made some pretty nasty comments against other people on here. I know one forum member who was quite aggreived with some of the comments directed towards her, many of them via private messages.

    Funny how that's been forgotten.

+1 There was nastiness on the other side too and a complete incapability to take any criticism in the car thread, that is how this all started. This not not excuses any behavior but it's not all one sided.

Like I've just said in the other thread - evidence? You can't just throw around vague assertions like that.

  • iirc, "bellezza" was deleted as an account and she returned as "epifania"

  • iirc, "bellezza" was deleted as an account and she returned as "epifania"

True - that account was deleted at her own request, but even so, she behaved no differently under that handle than she has done under 'Epifania'.

The root of the problem appears to be hearsay, speculation and to be frank, outright lies - not a scrap of cold, hard fact anywhere. The clear absence of any hard evidence - no actually - any evidence at all - of Epifania being aggressive/vindictive/whiney or otherwise would surely prove this?

  • I'd say the car thread is pretty whiny and over reacting and plenty of snide remarks on both side. Not saying that excuses anything but it does show that tensions did not come from nowhere.

  • I personally don't see that - and I've been on the car thread from the start. Granted there are a lot of people who don't like the idea of a thread on cars - especially given the stuff we have to put up with on the roads most days - but I genuinely haven't encountered anything like that.

If that's the case, I would genuinely like to see how that's come about - I'm the kind of guy who likes to find the root cause and then work on ways of improving the situation, instead of letting things just fester.

That said though, I think a lot of things have happened on this forum that people attribute to certain members who in actuality had nothing to do with them. Some people may want to consider this in future...

Me and Texas had quite a large heated debate on that thread, we bumped into each other at drinks, after about 10 minutes we were both talking about how much of a knob Jeremy Clarkson is. Meeting in real life seems to solve every forum argument, people act like normal people and not like keyboard warriors.

  • But E****/B*** doesn't exist... Does she/he? Redundant debate IMO...
And this one's for the Mook...

  • Continuing my attempts at even handed summaries: some people - well up to now I thought it was just one - apparently genuinely believe that Epi does not exist and is, I think the theory goes, an alias of Donut!
Against this theory is the fact that such a creation would make Donut! one of Britain's leading writers of fiction with a rare ability to invent a character and maintain a tone. It would also be unusual for someone to invent a fictional girlfriend and then do everything possible to make public that that fictional girlfriend has dumped you.
In favour of it is the fact that mental illness is not as rare as one might think and can express itself in all manner of ways.

  • Meh... puts thread on ignore

It not what you say but more how you say it, in that thread right from the first few pages the comments on both sides appear to me to be snide remarks through a smile. On the pro thread side mmaccarthy presents the case in a lot less antagonistic / manor hence he gets a lot less shit. If it can appear that way to me then it can appear that way to others.

Defiantly, and Jeremy Clarkson is only out to sell his books, he has to act like an ass hat.
