Oh, and Spence, have you sorted out anything about gears? I've been a bit slack for the last fortnight. I've either worked, been bed ridden or been at a funeral for two weeks. This is my first day off. Bit baffled by the freedom, not sure what to do! Let me know if you want a hand.

I used them on the peugeot and they are great, few people on here will recommend them as well.
I'm thinking about a road bike nice and light but at the same time I wouldn't mind fitting a pannier rack. Bloody hell fixed gear bikes are so much easier to pick.
Or is it worth me buying a full on road bike and just fitting my carridice saddle bag?
Those brakes look good, and a damn sight cheaper than Paul Comp.
There are road bikes with rack mounts, depends what you want to carry. I think there are some massive saddle bags on the market.

Well probably just a light bit of touring with the Carridice longflap. It's also going to be used for the daily commute 17 miles to and from work so it needs to be comfortable, looking at the Ribble frames will probably go down that route but I just need to pick one.

To be honest if i was getting a road bike on cyclescheme again now i'd probably go with planet x over ribble. their sub-1k offerings look great value.

Ah but 1k isn't as much as I'd like to be spending. More around 700 mark.

Not yet mate, I think the way things are looking I'm going to buy myself a road bike rather than revamp the claud butler. Dad's going to have the claud butler and if I decide I want to do some heavy touring I'll look at touring bikes then.
But for now I need help choosing a road/audax bike!

The 7005 Ribble w/ Veloce & Fulcrum 7s comes in at just over 700.

Sorted!
Off to HR Monday to get it done!

Ribble will do you a quote that you can send off. There are a lot of reports of their bad customer service on the net but I found them great.

Hmm...
Either Ribble or Boardman now I think.

I heard that the Boarmans are meant to be really quite good, especially for the money! Who would have thought it... Something marketed and sold exclusively by Halfords actually being quite good?! (Huhu, Apollo! Lol!). Make sure you build the bike though as they aint generally much cop at building shit!

Yeah the boardmans are bloody great for the money, probably going to go down that route then sit down and make sure its all built up properly, just got to make sure halfords are on my works c2w scheme, quite like the team one, not full carbon as I really don't fancy full carbon but carbon forks. Will let you know how I get on!

Just did the Norwich Triathlon bike route in 1hr 18mins. Pleased. Last year's fastest was just over an hour. Bring on 4 July!

Can you sign up for just the cycling part? I can't see that option on their site. Also, was the fastest time set by someone who also had to do the swim and the run?

Hahahahaha- Make your own @ http://www.pedalmafia.com/ and look for the IOD section...

I'm not organising it but I have it on good authority that you can do it as a relay.
Just checked the site - it says "Total Places: 300 + 15 Relay places".
Looks like the fastest bike relay time was 1 hr & 3 mins. Not surprised that the people doing all 3 events were faster - they are pretty hardcore.
