Well I've had it a couple of weeks now but due to the weather I've only done about 60 miles on it, not good.
Fingers crossed ill be able to get out on it this weekend but at the moment the weather mixed with the fact I'm feeling dire it isn't looking good. -

Weather looks non-icy. I've just phoned the UEA for a detailed local weather report, and they said there's little to worry about. That means I have no story for tomorrow about the ice, but also means that this weekend I can get out on a suspension-free bike with tires thinner than 2 inches! Nothing I can do about you feeling ill, though - sorry. Try a few pints of Guinness and an early night?

That's good news then, fingers crossed this cold will shift and I can clock up some much needed mileage.
As for the cold, few pints of lemsip are more like it! -

Very nice, I had a feeling it would have something to do with bikes, brilliant design though mate, did you design it yourself?
-

Hahaha, nah it was off a poster, switched the front wheel to an Aerospoke too.
When the swellings gone down you will be able to see the damage to his face. Gotta add some blood etc. At some point.
Feels a bit tender still.

Black on black Messenger cranks have arrived.. Now all I need to make the bike rideable is the CK.
Got my first pair of bibs yesterday, DHB Merston 3/4s - so comfortable. Dead good value too. Probably mostly psychological but feel so much faster. Can't wait to hit the Tri route at the weekend. Any takers?

Looking good man!
I've recently bought some bibs as well, yet to wear them though. Got some shorts and the long legged version for the cold commute.
Where is the route your taking at the weekend? I need a good run out so might join you. Also might need some help in the near future from you guys picking a road bike up. I'm going to join my works Cycle to work scheme and thought a road bike would be nice, any tips/ ideas whats a good purchase?

Surly looks nice, very long though, especially with those bars. Going to keep the decals?
Dan bought a Ribble, which he's pleased with. Have a play with their online bike builder, see what you come up with on your budget.

What brake are you putting on there, Dan?

Went out this afternoon with dom. Was lush. Between 3-6. Just headed around the city and then out towards holt and around a load of little villages, was a reet nice afternoon.

Sparky : I've got to buy an otp though as its through the cycle to work scheme, any otps you'd recommend?
-
• #147
Dan bought his through the scheme. You pick what you want and they sell it to you as if it was an OTP. I think they do charge you a £60 rip-off fee, though.
Nice selection. Frames are a bit plain, but they come up cheap with a nice spec. Dan's is quite light, too. Although I'm not sure how it rides, as it's a funny size (like all his bikes...).

It may look longer cos of the camera angle - it's shorter to the tops than the ribble, and the horns should be about the same length as the ribble's hoods, although i haven't measured as yet. the ribble's feeling pretty well dialled in since rejzl told me to put the saddle up an inch on saturday.. going to have to replace the campag post to replicate that position.
not sure about brake as yet, any recommendations?
spenceey, google norwich triathlon and check out the olympic race route. its 40km from whitlingham broad round woodton way, looks nice. thinking about saturday morning, 10ish.

Don't know about brakes, but you need long-drop calipers. That's what always put me off a Steamroller - would really like one otherwise. Paul Comp do a really nice looking long-drop, but it's £70, or I think Surly sell a replacement fork which has a standard drop, which is also somewhere around £70.
New Bike Day?!
