  • Well you'd write them in 9pt text probably.

The typesetter would do the job of making them all big and shouty and stuff.

  • Yeah, this is a fundamental rule of the road.. If you're going at a speed that you are unable to stop in time for, should a hazard appear in your path, you are going too fast.

    Myth

If this was true you wouldn't go faster than 1 mph

  • similar thing on my way to work ,a guy jumped the lights at a crossing, nearly hit a kid who looked about 10, cyclist was flying along would have been bad if he had hit him.

I'm not condoning this gentleman but how is this similar?

  • So, with this knowledge, you should know to slow the fuck down...

Depends on how often you have to shout at the dumb people - after a while you realise they can be a bit like lemmings following blindly more so at lunch time lol

  • If you're zinging along a nice stretch of open road, going along with the flow of traffic then you should be able to feel relatively secure than you can cut a resonable clip and just be aware for the ever lurking leftfield car door / car turning across you / bus pulling out evasive manouvre. If you're cutting along through stationary traffic, all bets are off and you should be fucking well ready to stop because people cross the road and cars turn through gaps in that kind of traffic. QED Bloke is a cunt.

  • If this was true you wouldn't go faster than 1 mph

I'd get your brakes looked at dood.

Or fit some in the first place.

  • I like threads

  • I like turtles

  • Horseferry Rd is a bit shit.

TBH though I'd probably going at the same speed if the traffic was stationary but I'm usually on the other side of the road, gives you an extra few seconds stopping time.

  • Myth

If this was true you wouldn't go faster than 1 mph

Sort of agree (although 1 mph is an exageration :)

The problem in general is the people crossing through the middle of the traffic rather then the lights and zebra crossings.

If i go through a red light and hit someone i would be in big big trouble if the police were present etc...

So i believe there should be equal punishment for people crossing through traffic, There are lights and zebra crossing every 100 yards in london so why do these morons have the need to keep stepping out into traffic.

I for one have liitle sympathy for someone who is hit after mindlessly stepping into the road.

  • I'd get your brakes looked at dood.

Of course I should Mate.. and to be honest if I run brakes or not is non of your business.

So if I was cycling down a clear road and a child ran out from behind a parked van the second I was passing and collided with her, I was going to fast.

  • I was Googling 'zombie rape' and this thread came up. Massive let down.

  • You missed 'rape' and 'Muslim' out.

Homosexual Mulsim immigrant pedophile ipod zombie cyclist maims two innocent girls in attempted 'road rape'.

I'm sure the girls were also war veterans

Yes. Thats the way it would be if you were driving a car.

  • Yes. Thats the way it would be if you were driving a car.

    no it wouldn't

Traveling 20 mph in a car the stopping distance is aprox 12m

How would you stop in time if someone runs out the SECOND you pass the van?

The things some people say on this forum is utter bullshit...

  • Yes. Thats the way it would be if you were driving a car.

    No, it wouldn't.

  • So if I was cycling down a clear road and a child ran out from behind a parked van the second I was passing and collided with her, I was going to fast.

Not really a clear road with a parked van on it ?

  • Not really a clear road with a parked van on it ?

    Oh do shut up...

  • Yeah, this is a fundamental rule of the road.. If you're going at a speed that you are unable to stop in time for, should a hazard appear in your path, you are going too fast.

    Tosh!

What if I was riding at 1 mile per hour and an inquisitive toddler wearing an adorable dungaree/welly/fisherman hat combo toddled out behind my slow moving bicycle and attempted to remove sweets from my hypothetical panniers and in doing so, caused me to overbalance and fall into the path of a decelerating bullet train making it derail and cause minor injuries to the occupants?

  • So if I was cycling down a clear road and a child ran out from behind a parked van the second I was passing and collided with her, I was going too fast.

    Agreed.

Deceletrating bullet train. Where did that come from. Brilient.

  • Agreed.

Bike radar that way mate -----> http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=40012

  • It was the pedestrians fault. They're all braindead.
I have to cycle along roads through a university campus, i know the lengths some pedestrians will go to, to get hit by cyclists who are abiding the law and the speed limit.

What flavor sweets? Better not be NERDS or we might have a hypoactive toddler on our hands...

  • it wasn't crazy james was it he doesn't seem to have crashed for about 10 minutes now must be due for another one soon
