Had mini mince pies from Waitrose yesterday. Had amaretto in them and flaked almonds on top, soooo good.

Mincemeat cooked and cooling, before adding a splash of rosewater. Sweet shortcrust dough resting in the fridge.
Mince pies are go.

Bought a load of Greggs Mince Pies this morning for the office, nicer than last year's pies.

I think I am running close to an extra 2kg too, but only in the last 2 weeks. No gym, and reduced cycling because of christmas drinks and general merriment in the evenings. This week is going to be even worse :-(

Truly awesome, only rivalled by eating raw cookie dough - nom nom.

I've had to start doing exercise. Rubbish.
Actually tried the McDonalds Festive Mincemeat & Custard Pie the other day. The sweet deep fried pastry is so good it's wrong, but the same as an apple pie. The mincemeat is way too bland, so the custard overpowers it, which I'm not sure was possible. If it was tarter, we'd probably have something decent. As is it, it a bit of warm fleh.

Brandy butter (batch 1) was made yesterday.
Butter + Icing Sugar + Little bit of ground almonds + insides of a vanilla pod + as much brandy as possible whilst maintaining structural integrity.
Vanilla makes it such win.

Greggs' special price for 2 packs (£2.20 round my parts) seems to be over, either that or someone had moved the sign. Damn you, Greggs.

Finally got my chops around a Gregg's mice pie... superb. Tastes really homemade, great pastry.
The sausage roll to warm up the tastebuds was pretty ace too, in a filthy kind of way

^ It's a good job I didn't get a bag of them I tell thee! I did get two with the intention of having one tomorrow.
It's already gone down the hatch. Inevitable really.

I denounce Greggs,
All hail Baynes as the best chain baker pretending to be a local baker.
Better pastry, better mincemeat.
