  • What time should we all come around?

  • Might be too late, disappearing fast!

  • Not surprised, looks well tasty.

  • Yes please if no one else has nabbed it already. Will PM.

    On its way to you.

  • apple one

Just looking at it is mesmerizing
swear I can almost smell it through the screen

  • I have to say that I'm not keen on these burgers at all:

    https://www.theguardian.com/food/2019/mar/14/impossible-burger-meat-from-cells-change-eating-habits

The main thing I see in this new, no doubt patented, 'technology' is a race for a future worldwide 'fake meat' market based on such 'technology'.

  • Yeah, those companies are going to get big and then they’ll start to lobby about the health benefits of their product, just like their predecessors.
    Just follow the money.

That processed shit should only be a stepping stone to wean people off of meat, but since 90% of the food mentioned in this thread is focused on junk food like that, I have no hope that people will start to eat clean unprocessed locally grown food.

  • I have no hope that people will start to eat clean unprocessed locally grown food.

Actually I do think that this will become sort-of a "trend" soon, which will lead to people realizing that this kind of food (fresh, organic vegs and grains, legumes etc.) is way more nutritious and also very yummy, and does leave them feeling better.
They just need a bit more awareness and start conciously deciding what it actually is they're putting in their body. I can see this happen around me. There's way less people just stuffing themselves with a fucking Döner on their way home, and instead a lot of healhier options are available now. Even the cheapo supermarket has organically grown vegs and fruit now, at least a small selection.

    Don't give up!
    Cook for people!

  • 🌱💪🏽

Yeah.. Like I said the processed food should be a stepping stone, so maybe it’s because that’s what’s going on around me that it’s what I see. But don’t get me wrong, I much prefer it to carnism - I just don’t trust capitalism.

But you are completely right and I will cook for people!

  • In case you fancy a bit of Black Cat but don't want to trek out to Hackney:

  • @kl, are you still keen to go to Cook Daily sometime?

Everyone else welcome, too, of course.

I was thinking about an early evening meet-up like the ones we used to do at Cook Daily at Boxpark. Expressions of interest, please, so we can set a date. And do suggest other venues if there's somewhere else you'd really like to go.

  • Anyone interested in a brand new pair of Specialized Recons? I believe they’re vegan friendly and are all round very smart looking and capable SPD shoes. Bought them for a princely sum and they are ever so slightly too large. Would like £100 for them

  • Size dude?

  • Ah yeah, sorry! size EU 46

  • Cool. No worries. Way too big for me though. Hope someone grabs them dude

  • There's also that pizza place which does decent vegan pizza. Can't think of the name but up the hill.

  • A new vegan junk food place has opened in York, went today post ride and it was awesome.

  • I contacted Carradice asking if they could remove the leather patch on the new Carradice lightweight Audax bag. They responded saying that it wasn't just the patch on the front but also two reinforcing strip on the back and 3 straps.

They told me that they could make me a one off vegan version replacing these with another material for a fiver extra. A week later I've just taken delivery and couldn't be happier. Hats off to them.

  • @kl, are you still keen to go to Cook Daily sometime?

Very much so, would be good.

  • Great, anyone else? And how many weeks do we have to plan it in advance to tempt @dubkev to come along? :)

  • Thanks for this, arrived the other day!

  • I made aquafaba meringues today - very very easy, surprisingly not at all chickpea-tasting considering the only other ingredients are sugar and a small splash of vinegar. Worth a go if you're tipping it down the sink otherwise

  • cool glad you got it

  • Ha! Cook Daily is ok, but not to the point where it's worth cashing in my nights off credits, I wasn't hugely impressed, maybe I was expecting too much from the reviews and hype... have fun though
