Any recommendations for Berlin? Food, things to do etc.
-
• #2833
I'm doing the Dynamo. Anyone else?

Mr Oliver Schick as well as this Oliver. I am planing on cycling back. Looking forward. Say hello!

As Thrasher says, I'll be doing it.
I should mention at this point that unfortunately we won't be able to do the feed stop at Sible Hedingham this year. That's where we made lovely vegan food year after year. I don't know what the other options are like that have sprung up, as I've never tried them. There's the café just outside Sudbury (about 60 miles in), but I have no idea if it does vegan stuff. Has anyone been there?
The Flora Café at the end is fine for a vegan breakfast, as they're used to serving London vegans. I even once had one that was really good. :)

You know that if this sort of thing happens, unpleasant though it is, you're doing something very right.

And this is really, really sad--just saw it linked next to the other story:

@Thrasher and @Oliver Schick, I've got a place on the coach back. Thanks for the tip about the The Flora Café.

Also, this just happened, for those who may have missed it:

Looks like lots of cheese and egg ingredients from that report, but I am still going to check it out.

This might be interesting if you're in the Kreuzberg / Neukölln area:
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/10129703/Also there's "Yellow Sunshine", a veggie/vegan fastfood joint.. personally I'm not a huge fan, but a lot of people (even some meat eaters I know) really like the food.
As for "things to do" - I don't know, read a book maybe?
Just kidding, but seriously I don't know you so how would I know what you'd like to do.. -
• #2843
I went there last time (Yellow Sunshine) I was in Berlin - they had (I think at the time) 36 different vegan burger options. I got over excited and had two in one sitting. It made me feel sick. I'll limit myself to one next time.

Oh and do one of the free (tips unless you are a bell end) walking tours. Gives you a good sense of scale and good ideas of stuff you might like to see subsequently.
Other than that I thought the Stasi museum was fascinating.

I tried some things out there tonight. I haven't used the chain for a long time, first because it was part-owned by McDonald's for a while and after that because of its labour disputes, but this was a strong enough incentive for me to do one visit. There was a decent selection of vegan food, and the two different sandwiches I tried were tasty enough, but far too expensive, and not very filling. Food labelling wasn't good at all; tiny 'veggie' or 'vegan' legends above identical-looking circles.
While I applaud the move to have a vegetarian pop-up shop, I won't go there again until they sort out their issues.

They used to make a seitan "steak" burger which was awesome, exchanged the seitan for a tofu thing though which isn't as good imo.
They definitely need to open up more shops, the last two times I wanted to get something to eat there they told me it's 20 minutes minimum waiting as they were so busy.. -

Can anyone recommend some vegan food blogs and instagramers to follow please.
-
• #2848
I follow quarrygirl and Fat Gay Vegan. Both have Instagram accounts. In FGV's case, it's really the blog that you want.

Anyone been to vegan cross up near kings X? Looks great! Might try and get there this week

Anyone up for eats on Wednesday? Ethiopian vibes.
