Cheers for the heads up on Zizzi's. It's the closest restaurant to my office and so everyone likes going there but I always find Italian places difficult for my lactose intolerance.

Are there any new places that have opened up (maybe in the last year or so) that I should check out?
I went to the Waiting Room in Deptford the other day for a milkshake, can't wait to go back there and try some food!

Love that place. Great coffee, great food, great people. -

Can vouch for Cookies and Scream, always go there for some cookies when I'm in the area... on the other hand, had some food from VX a few weeks ago and was underwhelmed to say the least.
They were busy and seemed quite put out by their popularity, could only really try the Currywurst and a cookie (which was pretty crap as well) as everything else had sold out... would not try again in a hurry. -

Ah, just caught up on this!
I can make it tomorrow, but I won't be there until 7:20ish. Haven't had chance to go to Black Cat yet either, so yay for that!

Redemption in Shoredith opened a few months ago.
The Proper Food Cafe in Haggerston went all vegan a few weeks ago (378 Kingsland Road).
Just FaB Italian street food bus is now on 455 Hackney Road.
Also new is Cafe so Vegan on 64 Northwold Road, Hackney.

That's one I've really wanted to go to for some time. Café So Vegan, too. I hadn't heard about the other two yet (or had forgotten), thanks.

I went to that the other day. It was OK, not amazing. (I'm used to that kind of ice cream from Germany.) I think where I went wrong was that I didn't get any toppings, to be amended on the occasion of the next visit.

Thanks Bea, few there I havent heard of.

Excellent, these are all fairly close to me! Cheers

You definitely need to do the toppings. I went today and got the not peanut butter flavour and vanilla, with Oreos and brownies as toppings.
It was good, but I've had better ice cream.

Although it's not from a cafe the best ice cream ive had is ooja booja, can't get enough of it. bit expensive at £5-6 a tub though.

don't know if this classes as vegan or just a bit of a copout; we went to franco manca the other day and just asked to use our own cheese (violife mozzarella) on what we ordered, which they were more than happy to do.

+1 on the love for the waiting room as well: Bricklane Beigels with great fillings? Yes please!
-
• #2772
That's a great idea - our local pizza place is Franca Manca and I've never thought to do that.

You definitely need to do the toppings.
