The onions look like worms. Disgusting.

  • It's my first one as a vegan. Any tips for making vegan pancakes? Is the secret covering them in enough lemon and sugar to make you not notice what you are eating or are they quite tasty?

Scrap the egg replacement, you can make them without (Just use a little more soya milk). They are tasty as, no need to over do the lemon and sugar.

  • tempeh? always a bad start.

inspired by the benedict above and the fact that the store pretty much only had bananas and kale and sprouts cos people having been panic buying. i made this...

pan fried tofu with soy sauce. with some steamed kale and carrots chucked on top, after having stir fried them quickly with a shallot and garlic and more soy sauce. nice. but nicer if i had sesame seeds to throw in and sesame or peanut oil to fry in. and if it wasnt served on an enamel camping/jail plate...

tempeh sausage crumbles from vegan with a vengance are pretty much the only way i ever prepare tempeh, and i have it often, i follow that recipe, then chuck it on top of whatever.

    KALE FTW

Thanks!! Tuesday will now be fun.

er flour water and milk? soya milk? or is it the water that you have issues with?

  • ^oops sorry didn't see post before mine

  • Fair play - I was worried about the lack of egg. Alaways made them with and was concerned without would end up like wallpaper paste. (That and soya milk might impart a slightly different flavour to cow milk).

  • It does but not really noticeable (to me anyway)

  • i'm going to be honest with you.. that's fucking weird.

  • It'll be gingers next mark my words.

Is it me or is this now going to far?

  • I think this may have useful implications for people such as vegan prisoners, for whom getting vegan food hasn't been easy. In general, it seems a little OTT. I certainly wouldn't need that kind of recognition, but the main thing is how it'll be applied in practice. Judging by the extremely sluggish progress on DDA-related work, I wouldn't be too optimistic.

    Never thought of that angle.

  • I thought vegans where at peace with the world as I can't see vegans being in a gang stabbing people, causing distress to householders by breaking in or general getting up to no good. Maybe I am just naive.

Millitant vegans who were fighting off omnivores?

  • There are quite a few vegan prisoners, but I can't tell you how their charges/offences break down exactly. It is of course always possible that someone may become vegan after going to prison.

  • How terribly fucking pointless. I can't say I've ever felt like I needed legal protection of being vegan (or an atheist for that matter).

Just another pointless thing the Government has "done for us". I wish they'd stop.

  • (or an atheist for that matter).

Why would you need legal protection of being atheist?

    Agreed.
They could always use the money need to push through and maintain this and other pointless legislation to reduce the countries deficit or do other useful things.

  • Why would you need legal protection of being atheist?

That's the fucking point. You don't.
This legislation also protects the legal rights of atheists too.

Our Government should stop trying to "protect" people who don't need it. It's a fucking farce, a waste of resource and frankly embarrassing as there are so many more important things to be dealt with.

  • You'd need protection if someone decided to discriminate you against you on the basis of being an atheist.

You'd need protection if you were sacked for refusing to go to a steakhouse for a client dinner because it was inconsistent with your beliefs.

I don't get why this is controversial. The protections aren't radical. It's juts about saying that people's freedom of thought and the right to determine the ethical basis on which they live their lives is not something that should itself form a basis for discriminating against them.

  • people are free anyway though aren't they?
to take the very basics of veganism, it's a choice not to eat/wear animal products. anyone with a bit of sense will let someone do that. if they want to miss out on steak and leather thongs, then fine.
if for example you got sacked from your company in a round-about way because of being a vegan, that's not your fault for not wanting burgers or leather thongs.. that's because your boss is a narrowminded shithead. (who could probably get done for unfair dismissal as it goes)
i realise that prejudice is the issue here but it has to be said, for most people, other people's beliefs or eating habits are neither interesting, relevant nor offensive.
big up the vegans and the kebabites too, holla!

    Well said that man !!!

As our real rights are being reduced, limited, and taken away - we are being offered all this pointless shit instead.

In case Jesus comes back and tries to fuck you up.
