  • Life: it's never about beans.

I've got that tattooed across my back in Olde Englishe font.

  • Life: it's never about beans.

    Post of the day?

  • Life: it's never about beans.

is it about Wasabi peas? Cos they're the tits!

  • Oh, will. Do they *threaten *you? The wasabi peas, I mean.

  • Well, they taste as foul as anything I have ever put in my mouth - and I have always taken a liberal stance on matters oral - but I wouldn't say they threaten me, no. The wasabi peas, I mean.

  • ...but is it OK to swallow?

    Lolz.

  • I resurrected an old favorite today for brakefast after going to the famers market and picking up some fresh kale, takes all of 5mins to make and it's so damn good.

    Tofu Benedict.

  • Well, I for one am sure that it tastes lovely :-)

  • brakefast

Today? With these surface conditions??? ;)

Nice picture. Do you have the recipe to hand that you use?

I've just got back from the farmer's market in Stoke Newington (which one do you go to) but failed to get any kale. Just about to do a nice cauliflower curry.

  • I haven't heard of non-vegan coffee (unless you dump animal milk in it, of course).)

Kopi Luwak coffee is not vegan

  • Kopi Luwak coffee is not vegan

Ah, thanks, either hadn't heard of that before, or forgotten about it. I think I have heard of some food produced in this way, but it escapes me whether it was this coffee.

I don't think I will ever make a post on here without some form of grammar / spelling error.

Recipe, I'm not really one for those,
I used to have one written down but I lost it so I just winged it for that one.
There are so many different ways to make it though. this one I wasn't that happy with but it still tasted pretty good.
For this I used used soy milk, lemon juice, ground almonds (normally use cashews) to make it thick and creamy, nutritional yeast flakes, turmic (adds the colour), Dijon mustard mix it up in a saucepan and your good. little bit of cornflour can help as well.

Cooking the kale the way I like to do it,
In a wok put some water when it starts boiling throw in the kale and keep adding a small amount of water as it gets absorbed. Throw in some minced garlic as well.

Kale you can get really cheap from supermarket but it never seems to be that fresh.
I go to the notting hill one which I think some of the same stalls goto well that is what one of them told me yesterday.

is that a it looks disgusting but im sure it tastes nice kinda thing?

  • I was just kidding :D

  • Tofu benedict? Fucking hell...

If you give up eggs, you've got no right to hollandaise.

    Its like gay couples adopting.

  • It's OK, you'd probably say it wasn't as good as the real stuff; surely you don't mind us eating sub-standard food?

Didn't know you were vegan Scrapper, what do you order at that burrito place in Angel? (this is jop btw)

  • jop, not really vegan anymore hate the label but eat it 95% of the time still,
Burrito place just the regular vegi burrito with no cheese, last time we knew it was all vegan I think you will upset a few people if you say otherwise.

  • I made a vegan chilli yesterday, with a recipe off the Post Punk Kitchen. It used Tempeh and pinto beans and was fucking disgusting.

  • tempeh? always a bad start.

inspired by the benedict above and the fact that the store pretty much only had bananas and kale and sprouts cos people having been panic buying. i made this...

pan fried tofu with soy sauce. with some steamed kale and carrots chucked on top, after having stir fried them quickly with a shallot and garlic and more soy sauce. nice. but nicer if i had sesame seeds to throw in and sesame or peanut oil to fry in. and if it wasnt served on an enamel camping/jail plate...

You are Iris Robinson and I claim my £5.

  • For the record, the above post is not representative of my opinion.

Everyone has the right to Hollandaise.

yea thats what i did too.

  • It's my first one as a vegan. Any tips for making vegan pancakes? Is the secret covering them in enough lemon and sugar to make you not notice what you are eating or are they quite tasty?
