?.. not eating meat or using animal products might be environmentally beneficial but I'm glad it is.
On balance this is generally true, but it's not all beneficial. There's a lot of concern surrounding the production of soy and quinoa, for example. -

Oh She Glows is my girlfriends favourite, although I think she follows a blog or something. I didn't realise there was a book as well!

by sourcing, preparing, sharing, and inventing my meals from scratch and so also planning ahead, I am able to develop a much better relationship with food and my body
+1
It takes determination / effort / time, but it's really fuckin worth it.
So nice to know exactly what's in the food you put in your body - or, in other words - what isn't.
Am having more and more a hard time understanding what crap people around me are eating / I have been eating in the past. -

New book. Long awaited!
If you get it could you let me know if it's desert heavy or not, not into sweet things.

Althoouugh if it's apple based I could be swayed
-

Judging by the reviews, it's a good mixture of starters, breakfasts, mains and sweet things, with lots of gluten free recipes.

Oh, and by the way, if you don't have one already (at least if you're cooking with gas)
go get yourself a non-stick wok, with a handle like the one above. It's priceless (in fact the one above cost me a tenner, at Lidl).I'd be a little wary of buying a wok with non stick coating. The very high temperatures involved with wok cooking can burn off the coating and you really don't want that stuff in your food.
Go to the local chinese food store and get a heavy gauge carbon steel wok, preferable one that is 'ridged' so you can push stuff to one side and it'll stay there. Take it home and season it properly. http://www.wikihow.com/Season-a-Wok
Good thread though, much nom...

^ I did this with a wok I bought in chinatown once. It was a massive faff, It worked but not worth it unless you use the wok every day imo. Just get a very good quality non stick one and dont use metal utensils and the coating shouldnt come off

My state of knowledge is that it's a myth that teflon etc. is actually harmful - the body simply discards it.
The two I have (a 40€ one, and a cheap one seen in the mangel picture above) both last very well (I hardly use anything but wood / bamboo stuff in it though, and don't actually cook that devilish hot in them, just have no need for it). -

..I think there's hardly anyone from Germany in this thread,
but since you just mentioned it - there's dm's own brand "alverde", vegan a lot of times, low priced, and pretty good. -

Lucy, is it even possible for you to post anything in here without mentioning the word 'food'? ;P -

I think the best way to ensure that is that you choose the venue and plan the ride ;)

Thank you!
It's a bit focussed on the hip(ster) locations, but still a good read.
And I thought London was the leading city in Europa, vegan wise (in the article they say it's Berlin)... -

On the subject of food ;) I really want this book http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Oh-She-Glows-Cookbook-Angela-Liddon/9781583335277?utm_source=NL-Body&utm_medium=email-Newsletter&utm_term=book1&utm_content=Vegan&utm_campaign=Newsletter-Apr-Nesbo-14
Although most of the medical profession frown on vegetarianism and veganism in eating disorder recovery, I finding that by sourcing, preparing, sharing, and inventing my meals from scratch and so also planning ahead, I am able to develop a much better relationship with food and my body. Processed food always has things in it that trigger me (salt, sugar, caffeine, fat) so when I know exactly what goes in to something I'm far more in control and therefore happy :)
