There's a Whole Foods Market on Stoke Newington Church Street which has things like Cat & the Cream cupcakes and Bessant & Drury ice cream (not sure that's the right name).

I'm into that! Bournemouth's vegan options for the most part have been "what size portion of chips do you want?"

... and let's not forget our independent health food shops such as Mother Earth Wholefoods and Food for All. Much more worth supporting than Wholefoods, even if their range is of necessity more limited than that of a multinational corporation which also sells meat.
There are shops in Dunsmure Road which have quite a lot of parve food. Egg Stores in Stamford Hill normally does, too, but they've been closed for months following a fire.

I'll look into! Thanks guys. Mr Schick, loving hut is pretty good, the one in Brighton is better though! Even despite the weird, blatantly false vegan propaganda!

I haven't actually been to Loving Hut yet since it changed from Peking Palace (which was only about 95% vegan, as they had dairy and honey-based desserts). I imagine it may be the same owners who have rebranded.

Dude, google Loving Hut

Rasa N16 in Stoke Newington is great, wish I lived closer to it.
Also, the Three Crowns pub does a fantastic Sunday nut roast with onion gravy, spuds and veggies.

There is an amazing off-licence in Finsbury park that does vegan cheese, it's on blackstock road and it's called Arsenal food and wine.

No stranger than veggie haggis which is crazy delicious!
very good point.. I quite like veggie haggis
but isn't that a focal point of a meal for a celebration rather than a little extra on a fry up that the meat eating populace is split on anyways?

Coffee is now going in every chilli I make! Good call!
I know. Game changer.

My gf isn't convinced, but she's wrong.

I went there the other night, pretty damn good it was too although it is a little pricey given the portion sizes.
Going to Loving hut in Camden tomorrow as well since two of my current housemates work there and insist that I come and eat there before it changes hands again. Incidentally, I hear its changing hands soon ;p -

I think it's part of the same chain that used to run Vegeland in Norwich... £2 when I was at college bought you a styrofoam box which you could fill as much with tofu curry, stir-fry, rice, greens, chips (natch) etc. as you could - as long as you could get the box closed. All vegan. Grab a handful of weird veggie propaganda leaflets on the way out, and gawp a bit at the TV perpetually showing the religious TV channel - as far as I could tell, 24-hour footage of their Supreme Master. Are any of the Loving Hut places in London like this?

Thats pretty much exactly what all loving huts are, but the one in Camden also does fresh cooked food and the one in archway is a proper chinese restaurant. The supreme master tv thing is what makes it a loving hut, even the one in Tokyo has a screen perpetually playing supreme master ching hai propaganda reels, its quite entertaining (but I suspect not in the way it was intended to be).

I went to Norman's Coach and Horses last night for their £5 vegan monday specials.
Totally ace. I had fish and chips with peas and Cake had the burger. Neither of us felt like sharing, and we got out of there for less than £20 including drinks.

I seem to recall lots of cheesy items in their mains menu , is the monday menu different?

I love the 'tofush' but found the chips disappointing. Second time I had the tofu 'steak' (block of tofu) in masala spices with a real mixture of accompaniments, it was bizarre. Mainly like it because it's quiet on a Friday night in Soho and I enjoy the novelty food as a change from curry, burritos, Vietnamese etc

They are doing a special monday vegan night, so 3-4 mains all vegan, all £5
I like the tofush, liked the chips as well, but I like a skinny fry.
Can I get you to edit your post, Kevin? That isn't common knowledge.

Mine were hand-cut fatties and not very exciting! Not the worst, but I was expecting to find the tofu weird but at least have some good chips. It was the opposite.

Rasa veggie Indian restaurant on Stoke Newington Church st, nice little bike ride from Finsbury Park. And there's a Whole Foods practically next to it.
