Have bought some of this on a discounted whim… don’t tell me it’s shit! Wondering whether to fry it like a steak, or wellington it.

It’s so great. I made a ragu with it recently that I dumped on chips, perhaps my new favourite meal

Oh it is fucking ace! I just sear it on all the edges until cooked and serve with peppercorn sauce or chimichurri.

Where can you get this? Not a very cool, vegan thing to say but I used to fucking love a steak.

Waitrose! (Also, same..)

These were the things I wanted to hear. Nice ideas - leaning towards simple seared for the first try.

Thanks, I'll have a look in next time I pass one!

• #10259
Yeah same, and Waitrose, 25% off sealed the deal.

It's best not to flip it too often else it may fall apart, best to let it form a cooked sear on each edge before flipping.

I had recently, very tasty. Texture is more like a slow cooked joint than a steak though as it pulls apart quite easily. Don't go too hard on the searing, is less forgiving than the real stuff.

Any recommendations for a good veegz roast in Edinburgh for Sunday? Other recommendations for other days also welcome.
-
• #10263
I've got loads of vegan mates in and around Edinburgh. Let me know if you get stuck and I'll ask for some recommendations!
-
• #10264
Maybe I'll just message you when I need a recommendation, you sorted me out in Paris too.

• #10265
Thanks for the tip. Looking forward to Sunday lunch!

I'm very well connected with people living in cooler places than me.

Was chatting to a mate from up there anyway so thought I'd ask.
"Oaft ehhhh Dr noodles, that burger place Gray loves, civerinos, homies, paradise palms" - I'll try and clarify what "that burger place Gray loves" is. -

paradise palms
We're heading there tomorrow anyway, get a discount as my girlfriend stayed above the place when she went to the fringe and got along with the owner.

"that burger place Gray loves" is Rabbit Food Burgers. He's recommended Considerate Donuts which is opposite as well.

Haven’t been to Embra for a wee while, but David Bann was very good.
(not very humblebrag time - last time I was there was for work on my own - went to DB, then a pub to watch football. They had a quiz on, so I entered and won it on my own against 14 teams. This is now on my CV)

I saw yesterday that All Nations Vegan House, which used to be in Sandringham Road, is now on Stoke Newington High Street, corner of Victorian Grove. It's simple food (ital Caribbean) but good. Undoubtedly a better location, hope they do well.

I read this as you won a pub quiz in DB and the vibes didn't quite seem right.

I've just bought this based on the recommendations here, but £6.75, fuck me it better be good!

The frickles at paradise palms are amazing, especially with the hot sauce, everything else was also really fucking good.

Don't rate Paradise Palms food personally (Mrs EB likes it though). Lioness of Leith do a few decent Vegan/Vegetarian burgers, and very good Nachos. FacePlant is also on Duke street for decent sandwiches/specials.
Hendersons is good for more restauranty vibe. Harmonium is the same people that do the excellent Mono in Glasgow, however it's really poor. You'll like it if you enjoy dead vibes and moody as fuck wait staff. Also don't expect all food out at the same time, or particularly even what you ordered.
Seeds for the Soul on Bruntsfield Place is good.
Indian food has been vetoed because he thought the after effects might make him unpopular on his flight to Thailand! Coward. Will definitely check both of those out another time though, they look great.
