Anyone know what size the connectors that come on the generic lengths of dynamo cabling are likely to be?
I think they are probably 2.8mm right?

I think they are probably 2.8mm right?
That's correct. 2.8mm is the standard spade size.

Cheers, got some ordered.

I realised yesterday that the stand light on my supernova rear light doesn’t work. Anyone got an idea of why this could be? I’ll contact SJS where I got tomorrow morning if not.
-
• #2656
Is the supernova the rear that works on a DC supply? Are you using a supernova front light?
-
• #2657
Supernova are all dc
-
• #2658
I’m using the pure e3 front and this rear.

If the standlight in the rear is just a capacitor, it won't work with a front light that outputs AC - it won't charge the capacitor.
-
• #2660
Ah. No idea then, sorry.
-
• #2661
How long had you been riding for when you realised the standlight isn't working?
-
• #2662
Just over a week. I’ve only been riding it to work and the room I store it in is lit so I didn’t notice.
-
• #2663
Oh I just meant how long had that particular ride been. If you'd just got the bike out of storage and it wasn't working it might have needed a bit of riding to charge it is all.
Sorry I'm not more help. -

My commute is 12 miles and takes around 40mins. Thanks for trying to help.

Best budget (under £40 probably) dynamo front light?
I had a B&M IQ Cyo thing but just broke the mount on it. Well, think it must have been cracked for a while and I just finished it off.

Iq xs

Any good off-road dyno lights?
-
• #2668
SON - weather sealed, crack the lens etc then it can be fixed, snag a wire - any light can be repaired but factory can fit a new one etc.

Got the edelux ii on the road bike. Just thinking the beam would be less than ideal for off road.

800 lumen symmetrical beam. -
• #2671
Yeah this is true, I was thinking purely weather / getting knocked about!
-
• #2672
800 Lumen at 17mph.
Not sure how useful that is for riding off road in the dark.

I've got the Supernova E3 Triple on one bike. Only used it on road and on gravel roads to date, but I'd have no hesitation using it off road.

Sine wave seems better but eye wateringly expensive. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/lighting/sinewave-cycles-beacon-hub-dynamo-headlight-black/
Symmetrical Beam Pattern
- Ideal choice for off-road riding
Superior Brightness at Low and Medium Speeds
- Dynamo power is optimized at low-to-medium speeds, reaching 200 lumens at just 5 MPH, 500 lumens at 8 MPH, 650 lumens at 10 MPH, 750 lumens at 13 MPH.

I use one and yes it's not ideal when climbing or starting out after a long rest as the capacitors take a second or 5 to get full and fully pass their charge on the the lamp. Still pretty great but ideally pair with a battery head torch, which is probably best practice anyway for off-road.
I did wonder why Ze Germans, who are normally so law-abiding (hence the warnings about the Supernova E3 Triple being illegal for road use), would make a blatantly illegal white rear light!
