I'm trying to book my flight but when i try to reserve my bike on the flight i'm greeted with;
*
'One or more special items were requested on this page which are unavailable due to limited inventory capacity.
Please click Ok to continue without reserving these requested items.'*Did anyone else have this problem?
If i cannot reserve my bike this throws up a whole load of problem...does any other airine fly there? (trains are super expensive now).
any advice?(obviously i'm going to call them in the morning).

Uh oh, too many bikes on that plane? Couldn't you get a national express coach? Might only take 3 days

Did you think about putting 2 bikes into 1 bikebag?
I think it should work, if the bikes aren't as heavy as gabes' or ems bike ;)Cheers.
-
• #338
my mountain bike is lighter than the old polo bike. fool.
-
• #339
that's a good idea, Aidan. try to arrive early and split your bike up as much as you can and put parts to other bags for the flight duration.
OR
get a bike box ( like when you buy a bike ). Put your bike into it + clothes, but at the chek-in don't say it's a bike, just say it's some hardware and your clothes. It is semantics, but if you were only taking a frame over, you wouldn't have to book it, would you? so why not tell them it's bike parts ?
Would probably help if you give wheels to someone else though.

Only problem then is that it won't let me book my bike onto the return flight...

Would probably help if you give wheels to someone else though.Ryan Air charge £80 for you to cary a musical instrument, £20 for a baby seat, £80 for golf clubs...you have a good point but i have a feeling companies like RyanAir make their money by being difficult and charging through the teeth for what ever they can get away with. I wouldn't want to risk turning up to find that there's no way of getting onto the plane without leaving my bike behind.

hehe. and Emiliés new bike will be way lighter. i know!

• #342
of course, it has to be better than mine, until i buy a better one.
-
• #343
Aidan, they charge £40 per flight, not £80 as a lump sum... the flight going over is packed but your return flight may be quiet. Give them a call and ask about just bringing the bike back and do as others have mentioned above for the journey over?

im going to call them today and see what happens.

• #346
ok, so just got off the phone with Ryan Air...i can bring the bike back but i just can't take it out...
seems as theres 17 of us getting on the flight on the way out i'm sure i could split my bike into enough bits to not force anyone to have to pay extra (except for the frame obviously) would people be cool with me throwing my bits into peoples bags for the flight out...i am assuming the weight of another frame would cause one of the bags to be over weight and it goes without saying that i'd pay the extra...

The allowance is 20kg per bike... my bike bag with lots of clothes, tools and stuff was only 17kg for the Dam. You'll be ok to split everything in a few bags I reckon.
I doubt they'll let anyone go over the 20kg allowance we have on this flight as it'll be flagged up on screen as full/heavy.
(This may change once the majority of passengers have checked in though as they may not have baggage and the system updates as the plane fills.)

I'm joining with my own team..if everything works out (money wise)
