• Having said that they probably send it via parcel force (which is Royal Mail's own courier).

  • the place i took my box was an agent for parcel force as well.14kg, so weight not an issue, box just too big ...it's odd because a lot bikes arrive by post

  • Sound like he's simply being obtuse.

  • my wife tried a a different PO, different price. £53 to germany..... go figure

  • Hi. Did anyone use Transglobal recently? Any reviews for their services?

  • Anyone got rough measurements and weight of a packaged bike so I can get an idea of price?

  • Freedom-shipping.com

Just quoted me £73 for shipping 108x73x21 from London to Melbs in 84 days. A frame and a bunch of other stuff around 15kg. They also do a bike box, delivered to you up to 40kg for 90 quid!

This destroyed the Interparcel quote which was almost double.

  • 40kgs? Awesome. So you could basically fill it with other stuff.
Do you mean they provide the box?

    #slowday

  • Yea, they drop off the box to you. You fill it and then they come back and collect it. The website is pink though, but I decided to go with it. Wish I'd investigated this before I put 3 1/2 years of my life in a bin out the back of ASDA

  • I packed my own box though.

  • Bump - any advice on who's currently best to use?

  • Any Italians/Italophiles able to recommend a courier company to send a bike over with, from Rome?

Friend of mine in Rome sending me a lovely late 80s Liberati frame with almost all Nuovo Record, including hubs with Nisi rims, some bits of which I intend to sell on (here on LFGSS, with donation of course) on his behalf, though the frame's for me ;-).

At the moment he's getting some silly quotes.
    Any ideas?

    Cheers, GA

  • does anyone know how much to post a wheelset to germany?

  • bump

  • Google for
    Transglobal express dot org
    Or
    Parcel2go

Will prob cost you around £20-30 . Make the box as small as possible. Price is based on volume not weight only.

  • thanks for that

  • RIght... NEVER USE INTERPARCEL!

    They are totally shite.

Twice now they have taken my money and then not picked up an item in the UK, which they say due to a technical error.

Also, just sent something to Greece- taken 15 days on 3-4day service and no refund as they say its a customs issue. Apparently they needed a Greek phone number on the delivery information- which Interparcel failed to mention and only brought it up after i phoned 4 times!!!

Crap service, crap customer services- dont go near them

  • can anyone tell me the best and cheapest company for sending a frame to the USA? Is using Parcelforce a good idea?

  • Parcelforce will do it, but it'll be expensive.

Try one of the aggregating companies like www.parcel2go.com or www.interparcel.com, they'll usually give you the best price.

There is a thread about this already somewhere.

  • See. :-)

    There's this one too;

  • I need some advice, I am selling a frame and wish to post to the UK or oversea's. What's the best courier company to use ?

    any recommendations ?

I am planning to visit my LBS to get an old box to put it in and then max out on bubble wrap and possibly knock up a wooden frame / splint to protect it.

    Thanks All

If you're going to your lbs, get some of the plastic spacers that new frames have between the dropouts / track ends and use them too.

Pipe lagging also helps around the tubes and then fill the rest with bubble wrap.

As for a courier, I've only ever used parcel farce in the uk and UPS from abroad but both have (for bikes) been fine.

  • Sad but I have some lagging in the garage from a weekend of sorting out the central heating pipes...good idea.

    Ta

  • Do a search, there are loads of threads on this topic.

  • Any on idea on the keywords ?

UTFS was the first thing I did, I looked up
