  • The most vile thing I can't stand to even look at, smell, or even try.
This disgusts me. Makes me feel sick to even think about it.

    Sweetcorn.
    Tuna.

    Sweetcorn & Tuna combined.

P.S Airline Foods can be quite enjoyable. I'd happily take someone's off their lap.

  • I bet it's not as nice as Lamb's brain curry. Yum!

Ive eaten brain based dinners whilst growing up, kind of got too grossed out by it by the time I was 6 or 7.

  • I thought I would, but I still chow on down. All the strange cuts are really delicious.

    You are mad.

  • balki,smoked cod FTW

  • Salt licorice is amazing. The Finns do it best.

I've completely gone off you now.

  • you guys have to get out of dirty old Lahndan and have fish and chips down on the south coast somewhere. like Swanage- meaty, tasty, perfectly fried hot out of the fryer, washed down with tea, tannins cuttin thru the fat perfectly whilst the gorgeous south westerly improves the character lines on ya face sitting on the sea wall.

    What are you on about?

The fish and chip shops down here are alright at best... the best chippy was Johnny's Chippy on Burgess, High field, Southampton .... massive portions ... we used to joke that Jesus could feed the 5000 with a 2 quids worth of chips from said chippy, I once ordered the large cod and had to share it with two of my mates.... was moooooosive.

Also Fish and Chips are washed down with best with a full fat coke, makes you feel like you just eaten something filthy ... similar to others experiences that may occur down Poole Quay.

  • BTW

Tinned Sweetcorn on its own is possibly the only food I won't eat. Tastes disgusting.

  • I could eat whole cans of sweetcorn (apart from the tin obv.)

Love Tuna. Love sweetcorn. Absolutely hate them together.

  • Fish & Chips in Rye after riding the 80-odd miles to get there was HEAVEN.

my great uncle when visiting from australia would would drive down to rye and eat fish and chips on his first day back in the u.k and then every couple of days thereafter (we lived a few miles away). he was adamant that the fish and chips was better over here.
trouble is good fish and chips is hard to get where i am (tooting) they are all rubbish and you have to go further afield to get a good'n.

southampton is the furthest in youre life you have been away from Dorset cackerland apart from two trips to London (one with me) that’s why you have nothing to compare it to mate.

  • ^

    What is your point exactly?

I stated it was a better chippy than the ones around here .... i.e. I compared the chippy in southampton to the one here and I declared the one in Southampton was better. So how was my opinion nullified within the scope in that I was discussing?

  • Fryer's Delight on Theobald's road is a good chipper. Haddock, chips, mushy peas, ketchup and tartare sauce. Not that I eat fish, but when I did... :(

  • No, no no -- 'tis a gift from gods.

Salt licorice is amazing. The Finns do it best.

    +1,000,000

Every now and then I get a supply brought back from Denmark or Sweden mmmm

  • I'm with Balkin on the UK fish and chips opinion. Why bother with the calories if it tastes so shite - not worth it.
Best fish and chips in the world? A-salt and Battery, Brisbane OZ. Their crumbed baramundi and salt and pepper calamari are to die for... plus its byo and there is a bottle-o next door.... plus the sun is guaranteed to be shinning. MMMMMMMMMMM!

Can't comment on the fish as i don't eat the stuff, but the worst chips i have had anywhere was in Australia, and not just in one place, they always seemed to be bad immitations of macdonalds fry's with more salt than seemed physically possible to get on a chip!

On the flip side they did do battered potato scallops which were great.

What the hell is full fat coke?

Its rare to find a chip shops that actually use decent fish like cod & haddock these days but one that gives you enough to share between 3 for £2 is amazing. Im a bit of a fish & chip conoisseur, birminghams absolutley full of cheap chip shops. There is some that even do it for £1 But the few that use decent fish & potatoes give you well stingy portions.

When going to the coast I used to always expect to find great fish & chips, but 90% of the time ive been horribly dissapointed. So many of them just use their seaside hype to get in qeues of customers for horrible "from frozen" caterers crap. Ive only ever had one experience of a decent coastal chippy, it was somewhere near cardigan bay in wales. The man in the shop was a proper fish enthusiast and had maritime paraphernalia on the walls. He only cooked stuff when someone ordered. Good fish & chips is bliss. Especially in summer when your body is craving all the salt.

My mum used to serve us smoked cod which she would boil. This would be accompanied by boiled cauliflower.

    Uninspiring fare.

  • Are you scandinavian balki?

I have a Norwegian friend who's opinion of nearly every food has been tarnished by having had to eat it plain boiled by his mother as a kid.

  • What the hell is full fat coke?

There is "Regular", "Diet" and "Zero" .... .take a wild guess which one people would refer to as "FULL FAT".

  • You mean full sugar then?

  • ^Is it 'Zero'?

Nope... My mum is just a shit cook.

  • Actually, thats unfair... she used to cook Swiss fare which was great but dad was very much burn meat and steamed vegies man.

  • ^Is it 'Zero'?

I wanna see DFP's Guess first.

  • Some sort of Cola Pudding?
