All criminal convictions are 'spent' after a specified amount of time. Lesser (non-custodial) crimes are 5 years, 7 years for upto 6 months in jail, 10 years for upto 2.5 years inside, anything over that you have to declare for life.
Police Cautions do not count.
I think driving offences stop counting towards points tallys after 3 years, but stay on your licence for 4 years. Most insurers ask for convictions within the last 5 years, so you could have a clean licence but still get fucked for it.
