Apparently he's like the cookie monster, only he's not blue and he's not eating biscuits and he's not American but he's just drinking everything and his eyes roll round, and he makes a growling OMNOMNOMNOM noise.
This.

I've been T-total all my life. However it was my 30th on Halloween and my girlfriend was determined I get drunk, just once. So my girlfriend proceeded in ordering me a variety of drinks. Sadly all of them were vomit inducing and i failed miserably having to revert to my coke early on. I guess it takes more than one night to develop a taste for alcohol.

It does take some getting used to. It is also, strictly speaking, unnecessary.

As with everything else in life there's a degree of self-moderation required.
Knowing your limits is the key.

That's just one of your theories about wine. And leave Murtle out of it.

No meat (or fish) this month, just for the hell of it really and also because I've always eaten meat by the herd, often in at least 2 meals a day every single day. It's nice to think differently about things and look for alternatives. I'm shocked (now I'm looking for alternatives when out shopping) how much meat there is in pretty much everything and how limited choices seem to be for veggies - thank feck I enjoy cooking otherwise it would be even grimmer.
Also moderating alcohol intake, not abstaining for the month but having at least 3 or 4 days off during the week and then limiting intake to just 2 large glasses of wine or equivalent so not going over the recommended gov limit in total. Went off the rails over New Year for a few days but got it back on track and managing pretty well otherwise, considering that moderation in booze is something I haven't practised in more years than I care to remember :)

Over two weeks booze free. I couldn't have known when I made the decision to do this, but being sober through dealing with some properly emotive family stuff has been one of the best things I could have done to deal with the trauma.
The only thing I find difficult is that I tend to use booze as an excuse to put minor trivalies of the day behind me; the annoying customer is still annoying me hours after work thanks to being on the wagon.
Other than that it's been good. -

I didn't make it to the end of January.
I'm not especially bothered, as I broke my abstinence at the Science Museum Lates, and had a mission of a week. But I've found it interesting how negatively drinking now seems to effect my mood afterwards. I'm going to have a think about how I go drinking in the future.
The thing is, I genuinely like cold beer, and a nice red wine... and I like getting drunk on rum and tequila. Anyway, something to think about coming into February.

I haven't drank yet this year.
My first drink will be next sunday, in the champagne bar at Heathrow. Like you do.
Going on that statement I'd say you are missing the drugs and booze.
