To be honest the best game I played all Christmas was a combination of 'heads bodies and legs' (or 'The exquisite corpse') and Consequences.. but with looser rules - none of the 'he said' then 'she said' bullshit. Just a lead on line..

Was utterly brilliant, especially when played with 13 drunk friends— some of the stuff that came out of it was horrendous!

p.s - can no longer do Monday, starting yoga. What have I become?

  • Got Electronic EFT Monopoly.

It was fucking ace. I won.

(Although it works by stamp shape not chip)

Still, they have streamlined the game to be faster.

  • At New Years we played the Rizla game and the Ten Name Game.

    They're my drunken party favourite.

    Rizla Game
Take a rizla paper, write a stupid celebrity name on it, slobber on the sticky bit and slap it onto the forehead of the person opposite you. It's best when there's about half a dozen people in the game. When everyone has a paper on their bonce you take it in turns to ask questions as to who it is, e.g. 'am I male?' 'Am i fictitious?' 'Am I a big racist?' etc.
If the answer is yes you get another go, if it's no the turn goes to the next person. Dead easy.

    Ten Name Game.
Everyone gets a piece of A4 paper. You write ten celebrity names on it, such as Mel Gibson, Jordan, Max Crowe, etc. Tear the paper up so the name is on it's own strip, fold each strip up and put them all in a bowl. Get into teams of two. Each team takes it in turns to guess as many names as they can in one minute, with one team member describing the celebrity to the other team member without actually saying the celebrity's name.
It sounds a bit lame, but it's ace fun.

  • Play Chinese-Checkers in the fast paced hop over non-adjacent pieces variant. That is a fun, quick game.
Play it so much I made my own wonky board out of an old shelf:

  • Good work! I like that better than a proper board. It's got bags of charm.

We played this with film titles, but with 3 levels:

    1) you can use any other word to describe the person/film/whatever

    2) no words/noises, just charades

    3) one single noise. No words, no actions.

The last round is fucking hilarious - the idea is of course that the films/names are re-used through the rounds so you become familiar with them and remember - making the last round actually possible. Add booze and it becomes awesome

The last two sound great. I'm going to have a pop at those.

I invented a game at a garden part about fifteen years ago, called 'Express yourself through the Medium of Dance.'

Basically, you had to scamper about, drunkenly trying to express various moods by, well, dancing.

It eventually morphed into 'Express your Ailment through the Medium of Dance.'

One lad was dancing away, but he kept pretending to drop something.
It took us ages to guess his ailment.

    It was leprosy.

  • holy shit. Disease through dance?! I thought my friends were bad.

  • Dan- http://first-to-the-line.com few of us got some decks a page or two back.

  • want!

  • My rounds of the name game are like this:

    1) Any description, just not including the person's name.
    2) Three words only.
    3) Mime / actions only.
    4) Facial expressions only.

    Josf Fritzel was a hoot!

As for a game of First to the Line, Monday night would work real well for me. Other nights possible next week, but I definitely can't do Thursday.

  • facial expression only?! Amazing

  • Monday now bad :-(

  • Likewise with Dominion. Sounds cool.

I'm thinking a LFGSS games meet? Maybe in a quiet pub somewhere?

Have been suggested The Regent on Liverpool Rd by Clara, apparently big tables and they have a selection of games there already.

So what to play? Not sure how long the cards will take to come over, by the end of the month hopefully.

OK, so when are we doing this? The cards are here and we're all set. Is next week good for people? Which day? Clashes with forum drinks are inevitable unless we go for the week-end.

    When when when?

My family never want to play games at christmas, assuming that we will fight and squabble the same way we did the last time we played, when we were all 13...

  • can now do tuesday but not monday!

  • Fire your secretary.

  • Monday would have been fine for me, but could do Tuesday, as well--only, of course that isn't very good generally owing to forum drinks. I think we should set up a Doodle poll.

  • We played new trivial pursuit this year. Its got chips and betting. You can buy wages rather than winning them. My brother won, he's a stupid fucker but good at playing the odds. He bought all his wedges. Was a bit too much like life for me. I'd have rather played the old version.

  • That new Triv sounds horrendous. We played a classic 1993 Genus edition we found in the ski Chalet in Austria over New Year. Proper good, feckin hard questions - except Entertainment, which had lots of "how was so-&-so killed in season 16 of in Dynasty " and suchlike.

  • I reckon Tuesday it is then. I think I can sacrifice Norths for one more week.

  • At the Regent.

  • If this is at the Regent then I have to be in. I may bring a pregnant person, if she is interested in attending.

  • Although, the Regent has a pub quiz on Tuesdays :-(

May I suggest the snug in the Half Moon, instead?

  • Mashers, the Regent that's meant is the one on Liverpool Road. :)

    That's N1.
