no. it's just really difficult to accurately predict weather. what with it being a non-linear system.

But metcheck etc make an effort to try, the BBC just make it up.

just went for a really nice ride in RP but have realised that all fitness i had in summer has disappeared!

Sun was out, no ice and not too many cars. didnt actually come across 1 single other roadie, couldnt believe it.

question- my feet toes got completely numb. i was just wearing standard cycling socks and spd sl's. should i wear thicker socks or overshoes or both?

Could try both, but make sure you loosen the shoe around the toe box. Restricted circulation makes your toes go numb very quickly in this weather.

by 'toe box' do you just mean the the straps nearest to my toes? i.e loosen my shoes?

Don't take any notice of BBC weather!

It's a massive con, they just cover their arses by mentioning every type of weather we "might" get, without actually bothering to do any meteorological work to actually give us an idea of will happen.

You can forecast weather with a greater than 50% accuracy by just saying that it will be the same as yesterday. This means that meteorologists are working against the odds whenever they say different.

Very very cold today.

The wind chill is the real problem.

i've only just, in the last twenty minutes, got the feeling back in my toes. overshoes/toe protectors next time.
which, will be in the new year for me. as next week is boxing day and as much as i'd like to do three laps (or more), my family are staying with me. and the week after i'm in amsterdam.

No worries Damo, see you out there in the new year. Fair play for doing that final lap, my feet were cold with winter socks, shoes and thick neoprene overshoes!

Cold cold morning today as the wind chill factor really prevented me in particular getting properly warmed up even after three laps. Good effort to those who made it out (Clive, Damo, purple_mj & samanthah) and nice to meet you Samantha hope to see you out in RP again.

Nice to see Pistolero and STE5 afterwards for a coffee and mince pie (they did not last long!).
