  • OK, for the legal reasons I should admit, that it was only my assumption, that Festus rides brakeless.
I have not witnessed the collision and therefore cannot comment on what actually happened there.
I presumed, that our fellow member - Multigroove - is a jolly fixie skidder mererly adhering to the given stereotype.

  • MG very sorry to hear about this shitty incident..... worsened by the attitude of the majority. Having a hit like that is bad enough on its own, let alone what you endured.

Pursuing the 3rd party lability insurers sounds like a good call and in the meantime, I have a 55cm beater fork/frame/stem/bars (no chainset, wheels & brakes) you are welcome to borrow if need be. PM me if this is of interest.

  • MG's no fixxie skidder, EEI. He teaches kids how to ride!

  • bit dated, but still:

(maybe HGVs could have some sort of noise / visual alert added to them when entering London, like the police cars that seem to be peg-it round 'ackney seemingly every night!)

  • Hey Festus,

Only saw this just now, I really hope you get well very soon and all that mess with responsabilities for the accident will be sorted quickly and easy...

Lots of love from New Cross my friend!!

    Loic

  • last week when i read your tale i first off i must admit spurted out a laugh partly shock and partly your story telling. "WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?" that laugh was followed by my continuing to read and shake my head in disbelief of what happened and how you had only just got over your arm being busted up. its a tale that could have ended so differently and i am glad we got the ending we did from you rather than a relative.
i am glad you are alive and able to tell the tale which such fluency. there will be another bike, just be strong and get well soon.

if you need me to collect your thing from the tailor let me know.

if i see any american football style body armour going cheap i'll dibs it for you brother.

  • if i see any american football style body armour going cheap i'll dibs it for you brother.

Lol, if I may be so base as to use an internet acronym.

  • It's shitty you went through that mg. It scares me how unconscious the general public are sometimes.
Looks like you saw the worst of it.

    Heal up well mate.

  • Picture of your boat race?

  • Sad to hear of your bump MG, how fast were you going, I always ride down there cautously, don't forget if the kid weas german it's proably not his instinct to look the right way on our roads when they cross as they drive on the other side in Germany, no excuse for him crossing on a red, but a reason why he stepped out

I know it's shit, but at the end of the day it was an accident, he didn't mean to cause you to crash.

    Hope you mend soon!

  • In Germany, all people have to have personal liability insurance to cover the cost of damages or injuries caused by that person's actions or negligence. So the kid that caused the accident should have been liable.

Of course, having not just left a face-print in a lorry windscreen, that's easy for me to say - were I in the same situation I'd no doubt be in bits.

  • Ehrm ... no, that's not true.
Compulsory insurance is only needed for driving, and as part of the employment a german employer has to take out a policy for you, but that's about it.

Also, a German personal liability policy is pretty likely not to cover foreign trips.

  • Strange thread dredge.

  • If Reeen appears that will be the whole Deutsches Archäologisches Institut.

  • hehe, yeah, 't is a bit strange ...

  • Hey not sure if this is sorted or not but I live in Germany and that kid had insurance, everybody here does. If he was 16 or however old it's down to his parents or school but he was insured. These fuckers don't take a shit without making sure they are covered.
