  • Specialized Toupe.

  • Selle Italia SLR.

    End of.

  • My head (vanity) loves the regal, my arse loves the B17.....

  • I've liked a few saddles, liked the Spoon for a bit, then started to hurt, same with the Rolls, loved the Flite for ages, then stripped an old SLR, perfect saddle but was bent to one side a bit so gave me a sore, went back to Flite, now on a regular SLR XP and love it to bits. Not even bothered about stripping this one.

    Madness...

  • Selle Italia SLR.

Be more specific then. There are five of them listed up there...

  • I know.. I was the one that added them all to the original list. Fucking lists.

  • You've split the vote... Fail... ;P

  • SLR without a doubt.

  • cheers to illy for sending me a link on the bay to the ever more rare Storika. auction won. my weapon of choice for sure. though i do like the SLR, and the San Marco Rolls Due, Due only mind.

  • jonny, I may be able to get a Tioga Spyder at trade if you're interested. Will have to have a word with my local shop though.

  • max, cheers dude, but i have four bikes and they now all have quality saddles on them and i won a brand new Storika yesterday. and have a couple of spares to boot. i really liked the Spyder saddle but after having mine nicked have decided they are not meant for me.

and don't worry dude, i don't reckon you will look anything like BoJo in 20 years time ;)

  • Haha, fair enough. Just puttin it out there for ya.

I hope to fuck that I don't look like Boris in 20 years. Cheers for the reassurance man means alot

  • As far as Brooks go, I have a Swallow, Swift, B17 and Team Pro.

For me the Swallow and Swift (in that order) are best for longer distances in a more racing position while the B17 is ideal for shorter distances in a more upright position. I have that now on my commuter. The Team Pro I just can't get used to, to be honest, for whatever reason. Fine over short distances but I was hoping it would be good for longer ones.

I have tried a few modern saddles, many are fine over shorter distances but I start to feel them on the second day on a long ride. I have not entirely ruled out that there may be one that would suit me, after all most people get on fine with them these days. Have Bontrager, a couple of Specialized, Giant, Ritchey WCS and a couple of Focus ones.

Saddles are a very personal thing, what works for one person may not for another. Brooks are a nightmare for some people, they work for me. Of course this indicates the innate superiority of my arse...

  • Turbo for me, closely followed by Rolls and then Brooks B17. Three of the most comfortable saddles I've had the pleasure of sitting on.

  • I have a gel selle italia that is really comfortable.

Don't get/understand the brooks business as they do not look comfortable.

Yeah, 20 years ago I thought I always gonna look like Peter Murphy and fit into skinny jeans... Now it's more Peter Kay.

    Doh! Obviously you don't know

  • The best saddle has to be a slr for me. But at £100 a pop, it will take a while before all my bikes have one. If there was a worse saddle poll, then the brooks would be at the top!

  • I look at the list and I realise that all of them are fucking uncomfortable for me.

  • What's your favourite, Ed?

  • I look at the list and I realise that all of them are fucking uncomfortable for me.

They will all be uncomfortable in jeans...

  • I've not tried out 4 saddle on that list, but the least uncomfortable one were the Brooks B17, it was fine for a couple of miles, but I end up feeling the metal frame against my sitbones.

    (jealous anger, grrrrr)

I should really get a reserve strorika for the BJ.

That's what the brooks spanner is there to fix.

  • believe me it wasn't slagging.
