  • Hey Joe you big old racist, why do you need such a good connection at the British National Party.

  • Yes! 50Mb/s home porn pipe.

Although my upload speed is a bit shit.

racism is bandwidth intensive operation... i don't think a lot of people realise that. especially the foreigns.

This is true, you need upwards of 10Mb/s for decent racism.

YouTube - Response to the daily mail bull shit

  • Sorry sorethroat, you're 1.86Mb/s short of effective incitement to racial hatred.

  • @Dammit

Did you manage to resolve your internet speed problem yet, if not I may be able to help you, I had the same issue, Virgin was useless at helping, after a lot of fiddling around I worked it out, I went from 0.48 Mbps on average to 48.69 Mbps by simply changing a few setting on the Virgin Hub modem.

  • Dammit may not see the above post - so can someone cut and paste it into a PM to him (I don't have enough posts to be able to PM people).

  • Virgin just called me 2 months late trying to see if they could do anything to help make us get the installation to happen. I said they could pay for the rest of my BE contract and give me 6months free. They didn't go for it. I'm happy with BE though.

  • Just spoke to BT about getting my phone line reconnected and they told me since its been disconnected for a year I'll have to pay 129 odd quid for reconnection, unless I take an 18mth contract then its lowered to 22 quid or get their broadband/phone package, which I don't want.

anyone had any experience with talk talk, too many horror stories about virgin for me to trust them, all I need is a phoneline as I'd rather get broadband from be..

    let me know.

  • if i get virgin internet then move house can i take it with me to the new place, or is it a massive ball ache?

girl at work used talk talk and getting the set up was quite a pain in the arse, plus it's an expensive phone line you're ringing constantly to get it all moving. after that I think it's fine..

  • talk talk are chiselling shitemonglers of biblical proportions - i know, i used to work for them. Try BE - been with them for nearly 2 months now and not a bad word to say about them - in fact i've not said a single word to them, which is what you want really. they do phone and broadband.

fwiw, i didnt pay a penny when bt came round to reconnect my line - they just sent an engineer round, he fiddled with a few bits and bobs and hey presto. just pay them the 13 quid a month line rental.

  • my assistant was a stroppy so and so, will probably ring back and see if I get a different assistant and have another go at getting it for free, even if they have to send out an engineer for it..

  • BE used to require a BT line.

  • they do indeed. in fact the only ones that dont are virgin. and maybe sky.

  • Sky need an analogue line also.

If you push BT a little they will chop at least £99 off that instal charge.

  • Talk Talk are incredibly bad, really ***INCREDIBLY ***bad.

Virgin Media would be the saner choice.

    See http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/compare.html
(although it looks like TT just pip VM to the post at least it is some indication)

  • Now that my Virgin service is working it is really good, if I had not had to complain to their CEO to get shit done I would recommend them 100%.

However their customer service (below exec office level) is terrible.

  • But it works- don't get talk talk, they are rubbish.

  • so no to talk talk then, will give bt another ring and if they still try and charge me, fuck them off for virign as its already in the house (no customer service hassle to get it connected) looks like a win/win, will probably go for their 20mb service, seems to get about 17mb download in reality, so should be cool.

  • BT are grade A twats and Talk Talk even worse. If you've already got the wiring in your gaff, then installation should be free for a phone line, don't touch BTs broadband with a barge pole. The £129 should only apply to a fresh install, new sockets etc. Get back on and chisel 'em and just say you're not intereste in broadband either.

  • Or give O2 a ring and tell them the situation. There broadband is the same network as BE and is excellent stuff, you also get a discount if you have an O2 mobile (contract or PAYG).

I'd say you have made a good choice. Hope it all goes smoothly.
