  • Meh...

  • Maybe they're still analogue. Pre-transistor, even. In a switching station in Sarf London somewhere, there is a room full of vacuum tube valves starting to glow more orange, with a deep vwummm noise getting louder as the day goes by.

That would be extremely cool, in a nerdy way.

With an operator who plugs your connection in by hand.

  • Oliver: if you mean customer service: In my case the main issue was trying to get through to the right person and getting an engineer assigned to deal with your problem. The call centre is in India and a complete nightmare to deal with, like Dammit said; it can take anywhere up to an hour to get through and they're not willing to take any action/take ownership of your complaint.

Going through their CEO office seems the most logical thing to do because it seems that if it doesn't escalate they don't seem to be in a rush to fix things.

Their product in general is good, apart from the one glitch I've had internet from them for over 6 years now. But when it goes wrong they seem to be terrible.

Thanks, I wasn't thinking so much about customer service as the technical side. Why does installation work fine in some cases and not in others?

  • ^ I call BS/PotatoChop...

  • I call rate limited E3

  • fuuuuuuck me that's fast ^^

just tested at work 36.82 down and 21.5 up ping = 0ms.

Surely this last one is wrong.

    Nope I've just ran it again;

  • weekend speed at work

  • fucks sake the internet connection in my studio is shite:

  • I doubt it.

    Fuck you, pipex. Fuck you.

  • Behold

    wut

  • ^lol

  • Isn't there some weird hocus pocus with xDSL that means it needs "bedding in" time? Something to do with rate adaption or something or nothing.

this line has been in use for ages:

  • £7.50/month O2 up to 2Meg

  • Got no idea what we pay for, though. Was all set up when I moved in... it works, mostly, although streaming video can be a bit poor.

I think we have ADSL though, so never gonna get pure cable awesome speeds.

  • Virgin have been fine here for 8 months. Localised problems can happen. Getting them to take you seriously, when they have 1000s of calls from dickheads who don't know how to plug in a router in, is probably most ISP's biggest issue.

Nice. You have the new 2MB upload.

  • not too shabby at work...
