  • cool. Leaving mine 8.30, aim to arrive cuffley by 9.30

  • scarlett, sorry to hear about little T, hope he has the old man's resolve.

am a little undecided whether this ride happens or not. that is terrible news about the two riders in surrey. really terrible news.

and there is definitely a case for just doing rollers, or more suburban miles.

i am getting on my bike in the morning in any case, and will head to the drop zone if events do not conspire against

  • i had been thinking of this ride, but would rather remain safe, so planning on RP laps. Will be at the cafe for 9am if anyone wants to join me.

  • hhhmmmm......have decided to play it safe tomorrow and not do the hell of the ashdown ride. texted des and he also heard of other riders down in the ice and mending broken bones.

@ jonny - will be in touch for a few town miles or drinks

So good it had to be posted twice eh Tim...
I'm having a much needed lie in
If you're watching the game ltr gents, gis a shout

  • My sleep pattern is now severely out of whack. I've just had some lunch :/

Nice to have an appetite again.

Hopefully 15 minutes on lfgss will be enough to send me back to sleep…

  • All off today then? I will have a solo pootle nd see how far I get...

  • rp laps, myself and dov

  • thanks. Was thinking of that myself, but feeling the pull of the great north road, for some reason. Have a good one.

  • Turbo for the lose

  • And then there were four. Good to see you Sasmon/hyperbole. And to meet big dave for the first time. Thanks for the ride. My toes have just thawed.

  • Good to bump into you George and good to meet Andre, I'll try and give you a bit more warning before i stop in the middle of the road next time. Dave a pleaure and an insperation on the climbs as ever.

We stuck to the main roads but there was still the odd patch of ice. Glad to get some miles in, but looking forward to some warmer outings.

  • Nice to meet you Dave and Simon. Made me think about changing my plastic bike for a fixed, you were flying up those hills.

  • Hope you're not feeling any after-effects of that stumble, A.

  • Luckily nothing serious. Shoulder a little sore but that's about it.

  • Thanks for navigating Simon (has the garmin defrosted and unfrozen/started working again yet)? Good riding with you George and Andre... see you next time. Oh, and glad the shoulder is okay Andre.

  • Is it time yet to take in those Surrey Hills in the daylight?

I'm getting bored with this north of London lark.

    ;0)

  • No, fuck off.

    Apropos of nothing:

Sunday 14th February '10 - The "Off The Cuffley" or "North Road HTFU-Riders" or "We're Lovers, Not Riders" Ride

26 mile loop from Cuffley. Profile: mixture of hilly and flat; also quite 'technical'.

    Route is here.

Train Out - Kings Cross @ 8.55am, arriving Cuffley 9.26am

Train Back - Cuffley @ some time after 11am (trains are every half hour, at X.21 and X.51).

    £4.00 for Groupsave4, £5.30 for Network Card or Groupsave3.

    1. BMMF
    2. shootthebreeze
    3. jonny
    4. Plurabelle
      5.furious tiles
    5. pjs
    6. wools
    7. Sasmon (planning to ride out and back from Ally Pally)
    8. mikec ( I will be riding out and back too. Thats if I turn up at all. Usually bullshit applies)
    9. teddy
    10. dave 4 (riding out - on sasmon's wheel because he has the garmin)
    11. bikepusher (riding out)
    12. hyperbole (riding out from London Bridge. Anyone fancies to join?)
    13. skoota- i'll probs be riding my 'geary' when do i get a chance otherwise.

*The route is a little shorter this time. Even if we're beleaguered by mechanicals (again), we shouldn't end up in the first wave of Sunday lunchtime twats; if it goes well (I will probably navigate 'on the hoof', but Garmin assistance is useful), we'll get round in an hour and a half or something.

There are some short sharp hills, but they're fine on medium gear fixed; and slightly twisty/bumpy descents.

North Londoners might consider riding out (if they're in the market for miles), and I expect the train stops at Finsbury Park.

Icy conditions will mean further postponement/cancellation blah blah brrrrrrrrr.*

    ohw

  • this was such a lost weekend for me. my smtnrc reappearance, hampered by me still stumbling and gurning around south london at 5:30 am sunday morning...

  • Likewise. Met cake, arvy and bad matt for a ride, ended up in a pub. Rats.

Turbo until the ice goes for me I think. Elbow, knees, hip all rather sore from 2 stacks in as many weeks. Boo.

  • Ditto. One flu over the cuckoo's nest.

Longterm forecast says much milder, but, unsurprisingly, torrential rain. It wasn't like this in '76.
