  • try hullomail, much better than usual voicemail

  • Loving the htc sensation so far, the but I had a wildfire previously so not surprising. The any recommendations for cases/covers? The preferably which protect the screen as well.

  • It's got gorrilla glass, so my recommendation is - no case. They are lamerster.

  • Gorilla Glass is no fail safe solution...manage to put a scratch in my screen a month or two after buying it unfortunately

  • I've got HTC branded screen cover that I actually managed to stick on properly this time along with some kind of back cover that the phone slips into.

I failed miserably at this, however I went to an 02 shop and they had a chap who displayed Jedi master skillz. No charge and invited me back to pop on the second one from the pack when required.

  • Google sweet to launch something like siri, I hear. Find your own links, I'm on the phone ...

  • The NEW Android Marketplace. What do you think of it?

  • hasn't android done voice control for ages?

  • I like the market place, looks a lot better, easier to find stuff

And even if it was scratchproof there ain't no glass that's drop/bang/knockwhilstinpocketproof

  • So i want to upgrade, i'm fairly cheap. from all the research i've done the HTC Desire S seems to be a good option. Good phone but old enough for me to be able to afford it (buying it outright to stick my sim in it)

    What do you guys think?

  • hasn't android done voice control for ages?

    google voice.. circa 1864..

  • Depends. If you have an older pay & go type tariff and only spend £5/10 every quarter then buy one outright but usually it pays to get one on contract.

Oh sorry i didn't clarify nailbrush. I basically intend to grab one second hand/ refurbished online. Cos' i already have a good pay as you go sim (giffgaff) i can't go contracts (i'm really shit at them, can't commit!)

So basically i will be buying it second hand.

  • I love my desire S.

Google voice, not quite as good as siri, yet. E.g: it won't do anything good with "make an appointment for dinner with Hippy when I leave work"

  • right. Have just rooted my Desire and manually tried to flash CM 7 (two different versions) but have got stuck in a bootloop. Also as I sort of bumbled through the whole backup ROM thing and I don't think that's worked (there's nothing do restore to in Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7).

Should I just wiped data/factory reset in the recovery menu? I'vealready had to have a shit without internet access and it's not an experience I would care to repeat.

  • Got it working now - just HTFU'd and factory resetted and am now rocking Cyanogenmod. WOOT

  • Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable is out and my phone, the desire s, is supported.

Think I'll flash tonight and see what it's like. I may miss HTC sense though...

  • There are some custom Sense roms available. Leedroid, I think does one?

  • Really, really enjoying CM 7.3 for the Desire in the short time I've had it. One important note though:
DON't USE ROM MANAGER it buggers things up on the desire at the moment. You have to do it manually but isn't too hard. Thread about this on android forums here, which is a good place to start.

Things I've noticed so far are 720p video recording which works really rather well, more customisable options than you can shake a stick at and that sweet Gingerbread screen off animation. Also I think even my battery life is improved.

Basically it's like having a new phone. Haven't tried any other ROMs yet but will post here when I do.

  • 7.3, I thought 7.1 only just got released?

  • There are some custom Sense roms available. Leedroid, I think does one?

    "Leedrooooooid Jeeeeeenkiiiins!"

I've just updated to 2.3.4 on the SGS2 (via Kies, not OTA), and got the newest version of Swype. I can't see myself using a different touch keyboard system after this. The iPhone one (on work phone) seems so clunky and dated.

  • Is anyone else having trouble with the latest adobe flash update for desire? Mines taking up something like 17mb!

  • Does anyone have a problem with Swype and the edit box on this forum? It's the only thing that is still buggy after the latest version upgrade. Grrr. Cursor jumps everywhere and highlights words.
