  • Infact it is installed, but it won't bloody run.

  • Angry Birds installs on my Wildfire but doesn't work. Apparently this is true of all Wildfires. The installation method (non-market) was a faff. Will stick with my iPod touch for playing it for the moment then...

  • My Desire HD has shipped, apparently.

A HTC and an iPhone? Bastid.

  • Hippy, you seem to dislike the idea of a contract, I just moved to vodafone from o2 and have come away with 600 mins, unltd texts, 500mb data, and a free desire for 18 months, for £25 a month. That's not bad right? i mean, could you do it cheaper buying the phone outright?

ps moved from o2 because their customer service is a complete joke and they pissed me around for the last time...

  • Malaysian, your data total of 500mb is quite amusing. Mine, on my main line is 10GB (T-Mobile...older tariff). In fact you situation is enough to make people abandon monthly contracts! 500MB? I download movies and stuff on mine, plus create a wi-fi hotspot at home from my Desire.

  • As long as you're happy with the desire for 18 months, it sounds like a good deal.

  • My contracts are all 12 months. New phones each year, on each contract.

  • My Desire HD has shipped, apparently.

    Mal gets the Desire?

  • I don't wanna be tied down to contracts so I'm with hippy on this one.

  • Angry Birds - I can't get past 5-1. This game is insane. :)

    Did it on purpose.

Had a few talks about the difficulty level. Thought it was okay, so let it pass.

  • I need to wipe and re-install my Nexus, according to the chap from Vodafone.

    This is annoying.

I may inadvertently invite everyone in the world to a meeting that happened last thursday.

    Again.

It's not usually cheaper buying the phone outright, but it is better. The major benefit to me is in the freedom to ditch network or handset as I please. With the pace of new device releases being able to throw the unit on ebay and pick up a new one is what I want. Do it soon enough and you can get a fair bit of money back on the device.
Unlocked devices are often available quicker, don't get bloatware, get updates quicker, etc. Also, you can expense the phone if it's for work. If you have the money, why get the contract phone?

    Yep.

    Why?

  • Won't install certain things- such as Flash Player, just hangs on install.

  • Nice. Do you break everything you touch? ;)

Hmm.. got enough space left? When was the last time you turned it off/on?

  • I find that I have to turn it off and on at least every other day or it just hangs when performing a normal task.

  • What are you running on it? I think the last time I rebooted mine was when I flashed it.

  • 2.2, official version- came on the handset.

I find it crashes or hangs approx every 3-5 days requiring the battery to be pulled to power it off as no button press gets a response.

  • Er no iPod touch as I wrote!

[whispers]to be honest, it's better for games than the Android[/whispers]

A HTC and an iPhone? Bastid.

  • I'm totally stuck on 3-5 of Angry Birds.

How am I meant to destroy that house with three of the crappy brown ones?

  • Completed it.

Told you you should have got the Desire.

  • Meh, stuck now as I got the car dock- which is pretty handy, when the phone does not freeze.

Seriously though, the Nexus One should be pretty much the same as the Desire- they are 90% the same phone after all?

My iPhone was a lot more reliable post software release 3.
