got desire today from orange.....having some problems

Couldn't get into some of the applications, for example can't get into facebook or orange maps. Tried to download an app (google sky or something like that) and it didn't seem to work.

Phoned up orange who told me that my contract doesn't actually start until first week of sept. Meaning that some of the functions of the phone won't work or be unstable until that point. This includes anything I may try and download!! Which means that I can't properly try out the phone during the 7 day cooling off period. Also, if I use any of the features that would be part of my upgrade package for example, internet I would be charged.

Has anyone else had this problem? and am I being a little OTT or is that just fucking ridiculous

I'm not sure why orange are f king about here. I am pretty sure if you/ I called up and asked to add something to your talk plan, for example pic message, they turn that on straight away.....I suspect you are right. The phone is fucked. But because they don't know that they are doing...they are giving me a ton of bullshit reasons why I am having the problems.....

....I sent a email to complain. Took me a while to find an address to do this, but I did find this. Any used it/know about it?

Speak to somebody. Don't send out emails because It's easy for people to claim they never turned up or were deleted.

update! Called up orange. Spoke to someone who was a little more helpful. All the apps seem to work with the 3G on. However, this probably comes at the cost of battery life and finance. I haven't exactly worked out how 500mg a month equates to.

When I put the wifi on the problem persists. Connection to internet is sloppy. Sometimes the apps work, sometimes they don't. For example, google maps, found me straight away in 3G, when I searched for another postcode in wifi the load sign came up but no location found. Then I tried on 3G worked fine.

hmmm. ....I think it is my router and wifi connection! Anyone else had similar problems? any suggestions

Good result man. If you want to know about your remaining minutes, how much browsing time you have left etc. There is an orange app in the android market for free. Type in 'orange' into the search in the android market and you will see it. I use it...its quite handy

AVS = Adaptive Voltage Scaling will change the voltage depending on temperature and CPU needs.
AIX = should actually be AXI but he typo'd it. The patch reduces AXI (internal bus) speed when the apps CPU is running at lower clock speeds and increases it when at higher clock speeds

I dont really play games but i was just looking through the market to see what the graphics are like and there is nothinhg that would look even remotely as good as people were saying!! not sure why but i am assuming no games studios develop for android..
