I find switching 4g on helps phone find gps quicker, I usually turn it off once it has located me tho.
Makes sense, it immediately knows which cell it's near so helps the GPS chip start it's numerical solving faster.

That's how I thought it helped, ta for confirming.
I've been able to check prev months, Beaming Service usually uses about 2.5mb background data per month. Todays 1+gb was all background data. No option to disable background data though (can do this for other apps).
Keen to avoid this happening again.

My Wiley fox swift 2 plus.
Ant+ enabled.
Have all the plugins
Why won't it recognise my ant + cadence and speed sensors (Garmin).Trainer road on windows and suntoo stick does.
Trainer road on Android and ant+ phone doesn't.

I believe it used to be the case that some chipsets had Ant+ but it wasn't actually enabled in the phone's software. Don't know if that may be the case here.

Nexus 5x is getting very slow after the last few updates form Google, I do like the pure android experience but didn't like the price or feel of any pixel phones. Would an android one phone feel like an downgrade? Looking at either Xiaomi mi A2 or the newly announce Nokia 6.1 plus ( I like the small foot print ) any other phone that I should be looking at?

Pretty much all the newer Motos are basically pure android and pretty good value

My Huawei phone has started to have wifi issues. Half of the time when I'm home it says that my network is not in range. And when it does find it the signal seems very weak (not enough for WhatsApp calls for example). Other devices work fine at home, and AFAIK my mobile works in other wifis.
Any ideas? Yes, I've switched it on and off. Many times. -

My Samsung a3 has also started loosing Wi-Fi. Really annoying. Must have been a recent update changing something.
On other news I’ve been using strava app to record powermeter data via ant+ and it has worked great all summer.
Any ideas How to Keep the screen from turning off when I ride?

There's an app called Caffeine that will do that.

Yikes, made by "backdoor technologies"

But moto.
Quality has dipped since lenovo took over.

My cheapie 2 year old e2 is messing up.
Poor sound and mic quality, issues with running out of internal memory and not
What is cheap and decent phone. Usually wander on th HUKD but seems quiet at the mo. Suspect another moto is not on the list.

Caffeine is good - use it when following recipes n stuff.

You are right that current motos are not as robust as pre lenovo, but i'd say they are still a decent shout for the price.
I've bought two of the lenovo moto g for immediate family and they are doing the job just fine.
As an experiment, I got an Xaiomi mi A3 for 3rd family member, and it lasted two days before screen broke after a very innocuous fall (arm of sofa onto wooden floor) which I suspect a moto would have easily survived. That said, apart from fragility, it's a nicer phone than moto g for £20 more.
I got myself a OnePlus 5T which is lovely but not exactly budget - perks of running the family IT dept. ;-)

I got a motor g6 play after my nexus bricked itself for the second time. Its a good phone good battery life and is pretty quick. For the price you can't go wrong in my books.

any reason why fast charging would stop on my huawei p10 lite? Same cable, but just doesn't fast charge anymore.
-
• #19968
Damaged cable. I've found my S8 to be really fussy with charging cables, and I'm forever damaging them and they stop working fast, only one that's consistent is the OG one but it's far too long to carry with me.

ah ok - this is a maplin one. Any recommendation for something available on maplin? Micro USB.
-
• #19970
Think you'll struggle with maplin.

• #19971
Not sure about you but I've ended up with about 10 USB cables and some fast charge and some don't. If you have a few maybe try different ones and see if you have one already that you didn't realise was a fast charge.

Sitting at a desk all day I can handle a slow charge since I have all day for it to charge. I do have a have a habit of making sure I leave the house with 100% but have an external battery with fast charge so I can wander round the house if need be charging it. My g6 has a fucking good battery overnight it only loses 2% so when I wake up turn the battery pack on its back to 100% once I'm showered.
Maybe I need to not be so obsessed.

My 2 year old Nexus 5x went crazy yesterday. Opening and scrolling through random apps whilst nothing was touching the screen.
It had been annoying me for a while so I went and replaced it with a 64GB Pixel 2 SIM free from Carphone Warehouse. £449 if anyone is looking for a new phone.
I guess the incoming Pixel 3 has pushed the price down but £449 felt like quite a good deal seeing as it's listed higher on the Google shop.

Hhhng. Do kinda want. Not sure about the lack of headphone jack though
@hamrack 2017 version.
I was using Strava with bluetooth hrm strap. Only things close were car key (53 plate), mini compass, whistle, and Trek bar.
Location & Bluetooth enabled. I had left 4g on but have done this lots of times before with minimal data used. Fwiw: I find switching 4g on helps phone find gps quicker, I usually turn it off once it has located me tho.
