  • Spoke to Samsung and I should get a return pack in the post soon. They know the packs are going out late so it won’t invalidate the trade in deal.

  • Any recommendations for a mid range phone with a good camera? £200-£300 (tops).

  • S9+ is lovely, if a bit slippery.

Touchwiz has vastly improved since the last time I took a look and coming from a pure build on a Pixel it hasn't been as bad as I'd expected. I am running the Android P launcher but the rest is okay with the exception of being unable to uninstall come apps such as Facebook. Only other thing is Bixby button remap to skip track - very handy.

What's this HR and So2 sensor malarky!?

  • Moto X pure / style has a nice camera and should be in budget.

Might want to double check the phone specs though as it's a bit old now. Not sure if it has a successor.

  • Nice one. Thanks. I looked at the Moto X online. But then I blew the budget and went for a Huawei P10 for £330. Seems decent enough... we'll see.

  • Does anyone know of any decent discounts on Pixel 2 anywhere?

  • I beleive Google direct are running a £100 off promotion based on advert on Instagram but still pricey

  • what i'm looking for is a notes app which has filofax style tabs so i can quickly open a different page, any ideas what does this?

i want to keep lists specific for a number of recurring events or people, and be able to access them without having to open a new file.

  • But that orange button on the XLs...

  • Don't know of anything like that but trello might work for you
    https://trello.com/

  • Keep can kinda do that if you use the 'labels' function.

  • Weirldly had never used the label thing before but it's just made Keep millions better. Had been colour coding each note by category before but multiple labels per note is brill. Can multiple users on same business domain access like in Docs/Sheets etc? Can you get plugins for it to add functionality in Chrome?

  • ERMERGERD - collaborator! Why haven't I explored Keep in depth before? It's great!

  • Last one - is there a faster way to add label to existing notes without having to click the three dots? i.e. can you select multiple notes and apply labels? Or can you change the tool icons under each note to ones you'd use more regularly?

  • Keep looks good - downloading now.

Trello also looks interesting but probably more complex than I need.

  • Google keep rocks - just what I was looking for. Amazed i didn't know about this.

    Thanks!

  • Yep, when you are viewing lots of labels at once, in the kind of overview screen, long click in a note and then tap the others you want to select. Then you can add a label to all of the selected notes.

  • Great, just did that in the app. In the browser version in Chrome I also noticed a ticker in the top left of each note which can select multiple notes but couldn't see a way to apply existing labels to them. Still, app does the job. Thanks.

  • It's simple but effective.

Annoying though that Keep and Google Home/Assistant don't work too well with each other at the moment

  • Trello also looks interesting but probably more complex than I need.

Trello is great for complex projects. I use it for the house refurb but for day to day tasks Keep is the best.

  • I've just found out that "normal" Google photos does cool face recognition and people albums etc
My gsuite account for mashton.com does no such thing.

It is so frustrating when the gsuite (GAFD as used to be) accounts lag behind the normal users for features.

  • This may be to do with data privacy or something - I looked up that feature a few years ago and the US version was absolutely fine and could 'regonise'/learn people - so if I typed in Mrs CYOA it would show photos of her in theory. But as I was an EU user it didn't work over here. Maybe there's been an update for one but not the other?

  • SD card failing on random photos and seems to be swapping filenames so that images with same name and timestamp don't match between PC and phone. Weirdness. chkdsk didn't find anything.

  • Keep and Labels.

If you're writing a note you can hashtag something and a pop will appear offering to make the hashed word a label. Joy.

  • Oooooh. Tx.
