Well my bank accounts haven't been emptied yet so that's always a good sign.

Your browsing habits sound risky. If you haven't already installed some kind of AV, all of those alerts are malware social engineering attempts.

Thinking about getting a new phone. Cheap, biggish. maybe the desire 820. Thoughts?

Those pop ups could be caused by other malicious apps (shitty games, battery saver things, all sorts of other crap). They can pop up full page ads making it look like a system message, saying you've got a virus and need to download some other shit that will compromise your device further.
Look at what apps you installed prior to these pop ups starting and delete them/google them to check whether they're malicious.

hmm wonder what the chances of getting a OnePlus Two tomorrow are... 0 I'd say. I need to find an invite I guess

I haven't installed anything in a long time... does auto update count? and the pop up window today was a one off. As far as the bug alert thing, it would be aN android / skull looking icon pop up on the top left screen, you know the same place when you get a text or whatnot. And it has been showing up pretty much randomly, like I might not have been doing anything at all.

Would resetting the phone to factory setting help to solve the potential issues I have? I haven't got anything I would cry about if I lost on this phone except for pics which can be backed up easily anyway.

Sounds odd.

I just got a Huawei P8 for cheap, impressed so far, I'm missing stock android but that's about it.

I've bought a couple moto Gs. Willing to spend a bit more for a bit more phone. I like a large screen (currently got a note 2). You can get a desire 820 for around £180 which seems okay, but not sure if there anything else I should look at.

Moto X would by my shout. LG G3 can be picked up sub £200 as well these days.
Kind of looking forward to autumn as it looks like some cool stuff is going to be released.

Before you factory reset, search for an app called 'airpush detector', run it and see what apps come up. Any that do will cause that pop up and are generally shitty, malicious apps. Let me know what it finds!

Just did it and didn't find anything... actually I also installed and ran a scan using 360 Security and it didn't find any virus as such, it however, found a load of apps eating up my memory and batttery life.
Here is a screenshot of that virus alert I was on about earlier. Went on the same site, same part of the site gave me the alert... pretty sure now it's a bait.

Torch the building and run, they're onto you, don't look back.

T'is just a scareware ad, as long as you're not daft enough to install anything it wants you to you'll be fine, especially if you don't have "install third party apps" allowed in your settings.

It automatically redirected me to the play store, I think another page with some sort of 'google' URL flashes up before that. Anyway, in the play store it asks me to install some anti virus app, obv I didn't install anything... This is something my daft family would have done...

Arge... I did the OnePlus 2 sign up... and didn't realize it emailed a link to confirm for the invite. I lost out on like 100k places :S

report the app in the store, legit AV wouldn't be using that kind of tactic.
-
• #16073
I don't know what that is now, closed the page too fast. Besides, isn't it ture that a lot of apps from within the play store can also be fishy?

On a different subject, anyone ever managed to get any support from OnePlus? The sim tray on mine is broken and I need a replacement, been trying to submit a ticket but after filling in all the details and click send, it reloads the page...

Looking for a good SIM-only plans. Want to move away from EE. Came across iD from CPWH are they any good?
Is anyone here using them? What is data speed like in your area etc?
New Moto G becomes official today!
Meh, keep stuff up to date and be sensible.
