I'm having issues with my N4 recently in regards to my signal. I'm on Giffgaff and for the most part it's fine all over the place but in the last few weeks I'm getting no signal at all where I normally would do. Ordered a new SIM to no avail so I've no idea (running stock Lollipop). Help/suggestions as to what I can do?
Also having major battery issues; one second it'll tell me it's at 70%, shutdown unexpectedly only for me to turn it back on and it's actually 2%. Half hour on charge and it's at 100%!
To be honest I'm tempted to finally root the thing and put a custom ROM on, suggestions? Paranoid Android looks alright, I liked 4.4.4 before all of this came along.

Have inherited a galaxy fame. Are there any tutorials/guides to taking all the shit off, keeping the shit off, and having it as a talky, texty, emaily, mappy, camera stick with minimal products on there?
Ta muchly. -

I think N4s have an issue with their batteries - or something related to power anyway.
You're actually lucky you managed to salvage it from the unexpected shutdown, mine did that and now it just wont charge. I've changed the battery and done various re-sets but its basically dead. So it might be that causing the issue rather than the Lollipop update

Has android chrome moved the tab button a spot over or have I just become a bit stupider?

So I've got a 2012 nexus 7, which has updated itself to lollipop and now nothing works on it and it takes about 4 times as long to turn on. Can I go back to kitkat on it?

I was looking at 2nd hand iphone 5s on ebay when I was alerted to this - https://oneplus.net/uk/one
Used to have Cyanogen 7 on a Galaxy Ace before I switched to apple so am considering going android again. Any thoughts on the above? Says you need an invite before you can buy. -

i believe the oneplus one doesn't have 800mhz band, so won't get 4g on some networks, review here > http://www.trustedreviews.com/oneplus-one-review

OnePlus doesn't work with 4G on O2... I know it coz I can't get it. Should have done my research properly...

Yeah I did a quick Google which seemed to suggest something battery related, so I went and ordered a brand new genuine one. Put it in and initial signs aren't positive as I still get no signal at my desk.
I think the end is nigh which is a shame as I do love this phone, served me well for two years until all of this.

Yeah, I really enjoyed mine too. Can highly recommend the old Moto G if you can find it. Basically the same guts but in a much (MUCH) nicer package to hold. The only downside is that it only has a white notification LED which is a bit of a bummer

My dad is after a new smartphone - although I can't really see why as he doesn't really use his Ace.
My mum has the cheap Motorola everyone raves about, which is good and has the advantage of giving him the same phone for when he needs help.
Are there any other phones people would recommend? At the moment the new iphone is what's being recommended, but I don't know why.
IMO the only considerations are easy to use and a sensible sized screen for his eyesight... Although as all phones are going I don't think that narrows the field.
Cheers.

E or G?
Get him a Moto X, they're lovely and you can choose the colour of various parts.

Just a heads-up/reminder to authorise android device manager on your new devices.
Dropped my phone on the weekend and cracked half the digitiser (not buying Alcatel again.. parts are £$). My screenlock thwarted me.. now useable with lots of screen rotation until my 3rd Huawei arrives.
^hope it helps.
edit - also lets you ring/locate your phone.

we like? really tempted... about time I treat myself to a new watch, and I have been looking at them for a while yet (not smartwatches obv), then came across this... looks pretty good, shame it needs charging everyday... and am pretty sure it won't stand the test of time like a proper watch...

Ok, the LG one can last up to 2 days... Still...
This moto 360 is what fist got my attention...

But the not so full circular aka 'flat tyre' screen would really annoy me...

Pebble.
Smart watch that doesn't need recharging every day. Does what it needs to do without too much fuss.
I have a Pebble and a LG Wear watch. The Pebble is the 'go to' wearable.

Agreed. My fingers are too fat for a touchscreen watch anyway so the pebble is fine.
Could just be a coincidence with a bad battery. Or not...
