I've had a grey imported chromecast since Xmas. Its great for Netflix and Google Music, looking forward to using the updated iPlayer app but despite appearing to have the latest app updates its not working for me this evening?
Casting from a webpage is still a bit laggy.
I would also like a good app to cast photos so I can turn the TV into a photo gallery - Just waiting for a decent free one to come along...

^^Just discovered that imported Chromecasts need a factory reset before they will work with iPlayer.

The new keyboard has a little message saying "we're reading all your shit, do you want this to stop?". The popup takes you to settings where you can disable their spying eyes (maybe) and disable the FUCKING block OFFENSIVE cunting words setting! Awesome! shit fuck cunt piss

Any suggestions on an app permissions manager for 4.4.2 (Nexus 5)?

Anyone got a hudl? Worth it for a family tablet or better to splash out for the Nexus7.2? It's mostly for sofagoogling and sticky-fingered-urchins playing temple run or watching cat videos.
The missus has fubared our old nexus 7.

Fubared how? Can it not be reflashed?
The Hudl is pretty decent value for the price and cheaper to replace should the sticky-fingered-urchins trash it.

^This.
Or a second hand N7. There have been some on the forum for Hudl money.

Ta. It's been dropped - smashed screen and not holding any charge.

Time to order a Nexus 7 on 'er indoors' credit card then, no?

I'm on my Hudl now it is okay. I have never used anything similar so no comparison. With doubling up on Tesco vouchers it actually cost Mrs C £7. Cheap. As chips.

Moto G.
Get over it
I thought that but suspect it may be a bit more of a faff. Most public wifi has discoverability turned off so that you can't see the other devices on the network. As such, you'd need to set up a Wifi hotspot with a laptop (or portable router maybe) for the controller and chromecast to access.
I've used a Raspberry Pi for this.
Saying that, the Chromecast is a nice bit of kit for the price, particularly if you have a Google Music all access subscription. Also useful for watching internet video feeds on your tv through casting from a PC browser.
