  • Need a recommendation for a good wheelbuilder central-ish, or at least within zone 2 on the tube. I've got Phil hubs and CXP33 rims and I want to find somebody who can build them up strong. I'm off the bike and one-handed at the moment so my geographical radius is a bit restricted.

Yourself, want me to show you how? Ist not hard.

Payment in coffee and cake ;)

  • raining now if any of you fetishits want to get your palms out their and get your fix

    right..

  • I've just ordered something from the States that cost £150 + £25 P&P.

What is, definitively, the best way of dodging customs charges?

Is it a case of either coughing up or have them send it as a low value gift and run the risk of it going missing?

    Any tips anyone?

    Thanks,

    Josh

  • Having it marked as a gift makes no difference anymore, I think the limit for tax/no tax is £30ish so you'd be taking a pretty big hit if it got lost or damaged.

  • right..

Building a wheel one handed isn't that difficult. Just takes imagination

...and the country slides further into debt
    ; )

  • But what are we talking though, on a parcel worth £150? If it was ten quid I wouldn't mind paying (too much), but if I stand to get bent over a barrel and rogered into the middle of May then I'd rather not bother placing the order at all.

  • you're looking at about £9000

Assume 10% duty on the goods and then 20% VAT on goods+duty+shipping, so on 150+25 you're looking at £15 duty and then £38 VAT, and then the fucking post office charge you £13 for collecting the taxes, making a grand total of about £61 to pay before they hand over your parcel. Duty rates vary slightly according to the type of goods, but duty is the smaller part of the problem anyway.

  • ...and the populace slides further into credit
    ; )

Right-wing nutters like me shout at the wireless when some poxy politician spouts bullshit about how smugglers are depriving the country of money. They aren't; they are depriving politicians of money, but they are leaving money where it belongs, in the hands of the people.

    Bollocks!

Ha! That was a joke, right?

  • No, you would know if Tester was making a joke because you would not be laughing.

  • Has anybody got a spring type drain auger I can borrow? Something nice and thin...

    Something like this:

    http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=drain+cleaner&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox&oe=&redir_esc=&um=1&hl=en&biw=1345&bih=583&wrapid=tlif130254296536810&ie=UTF-8&cid=13519486801684792578&sa=X&ei=LzqjTavcHMfG8QPLoamoAw&ved=0CIcBEPMCMAQ#

The plumbing in my flat is crap and the waste pipe from my kitchen sink has blocked just before reaching the waste stack and there are no access points. Need something about 5 metres long. Normal drain rods won't work as there is a 90 degree turn involved.

  • ^ I'm going to give my neighbours some free laxatives after what I've just had to dig out of the waste stack.

  • I dunno, I was sort of hoping somebody had flushed a sock or a pound of hash or something. Oh well, job done. The landlord is giving me a case of beer for sorting it too.

  • wasted this early in the morning? perhaps you should knock the drinking on the head dude.

  • Why? He's clearly got a talent!

  • Or a resistance to sobering, I guess that's also a talent.

Perhaps it's hair of the dog?

  • nah seriously the amount he drinks is scary...

  • not a single drop of alcohol.

  • weirdo

  • who will buy these loverly sidi's?
