Whats a good cheapish 2nd hand smartphone? My girlfriend wants something to do her emails on and her new tariff has unlimited web stuff so a smartphone seems the right option. I only know about iphones - and all I know about them is they're expensive!
Palm PixiPlus
http://www.palm.com/uk/en/products/phones/pixiplus/index.html
£100 brand new, does everything an iPhone does (except attract hordes of fanboys), has a touchscreen and the o2 simplicity data plan is quite good
Although, battery life isnt great if you leave your data roaming, gprs, wifi and bluetooth on all the time,
which most people seem to do unknowingly. -

You can also get a sony x10 mini for £100 from CPW.
Its got a decent camera and is really compact unlike all the iphone-a-likes.

Anyone have any info about or experience with the Moda Forte track frame. It's made in the UK and priced around 350-400 along with many other aluminium entry level frames. This one is differen from most though in that it doesnt have the oversized seat tube with cut-out for the wheel and the down tube seems to be oversized but flat at the bottom instea of the oval of others.
I can't find any useful reviews for it. Velodromeshop has it but the main company they work with is eurobike. I met the guy who started the company atthe bike show and hebwas very nice and the high end carbon bikes they had there appeared to be well designed and made. Anyone?

netbooks. do they suck or are the good for the basics. do i really have to buy microsoft office or can i get a cracked copy easily enough for free and will it ruin my netbook?
Netbooks are good for web browsing and email, (and games like transport tycoon). Compared to regular laptops, they are small, light and the batteries generally last much longer. Good for travel (backing up photos from a digital camera, watching movies, etc)
They are not so good for work because: a) office will run slowly, b) the screens are tiny, c) the keyboards are tiny.
If you know you need to be running office, then you probably don't want to be getting a netbook.

it'll be a supplement for my home computer, just for when im abroad and working away. i really only need to do internets and basic word and excel stuff so im thinking it'll be just fine for that. the issue is that i resent having to pay for software bundles when i only want a small part of it, i.e. word and excel not all the rest of it. hence the question on copy software. i know the screen and keyboards are tiny and im happy to live with that, 80 odd quid to be able to use word and excel seems a tad expensive.

Openoffice does most of what windows office does provided you don't have a lot of VBA macros in hour excel spreadsheets. Check their website. Sometimes there are annoying problems with new office file formats but for simple documents it's fine.

Where has the TNCR (Tuesday Night Club Ride) thread moved? It seems the one I can see has not had a post for 3 weeks.
Is it still happening?

Legendary, thanks chaps. Ties in well with the last post on the otehr thread! ;)
I had a pair of Salman Agah Vans when I skated.
They refused to make me skate like Salman Agah though.
So Vans can fuck off.
