How long is the life expectancy of a 90's carbon fork?
18-28 years 🙂
Seriously, there is no fixed time limit. Depending on the original quality of manufacture and the use and storage conditions, it may become weaker over time and eventually fail under normal service loads. In the worst case, it would already be broken, but then you probably wouldn't be asking. In the best case, you're not even half way through it's life yet.

Which storage conditions would be hard on a carbon fork?
UV exposure and/or elevated temperature are the likely ones. High neutron flux probably wouldn't do it any good either, but most sheds don't suffer from that :)

Are you on the voters register?
Do you pay council tax?
If so that's how it happened? -

They'll have your details via the electoral roll but they are duty bound to honour your request to stop receiving crap from them, but it's not clear how you need to go about doing that. What marketing stuff you receive should (but probably won't) explain how to deny consent. You'll probably have to contact each of the individual parties (at the local level) to add them to their suppression list(s).

But
(16) Candidates, political parties and referendum campaigners have a right (depending on the type of election or referendum2 ) to send an‘election address’ by Freepost, either addressed to each individual elector or unaddressed to each postal address. This applies to elections for the UK or Scottish Parliament, for the Northern Ireland Assembly or National Assembly for Wales, or for the European Parliament, or at a particular referendum. This type of Freepost mailing does not constitute direct marketing.
(31) Political parties, referendum campaigners and candidates are
entitled to a copy of the full electoral register for electoral or
referendum purposes, which includes contacting individuals on
the list by post. At particular elections or referendums they also
have a specific legal right to send one Freepost mailing, as
described in paragraph 16. -

with #GDPR how do I ask them to delete them?
As others have said, it's not a GDPR issue, it's a fundamental problem with the way the electoral roll is treated. Letting candidates use it for electoral communications is the least of the problem, although abuse of the list by political parties could be eliminated if they didn't get given the list in the first place but just sent their one page to the returning officer and had him forward it it to each registered elector.

I've been sent a txt file by a Greek company. It's full of characters like ÅËËÁÄÁ and Áðüäåéîç
I'm guessing this is an issue with the Greek alphabet not working properly in a text file. Is there any way round this, are those characters which can be substituted for the correct ones or just gibberish? -

You need to open it with an editor that can use the right encoding, but the change may have been at their end if they've saved it using the wrong encoding, in which case so way back.
It seems incredibly wasteful.
