I don’t much like racks, so trying to avoid the option of fitting one. But the bike has rack mounts, so figured I could use them to do this.

Were it me, and with a nice light like that, I'd consider putting a lock-nut on the bolt on the inside of the rack mount, if you have the space for it.
Or even a half nut if space is tight. -

Thanks - these are rack mounts that go into the seat stay, so that’s not really an option. But this isn’t a set up for being left locked up outside for extended periods.

Forgive me, but my thinking about using a locknut was more to do with preventing the bolt from unscrewing itself during use, rather than scrote protection.
Like the one illustrated here - albeit, it hasn't been tightened, and is on the opposite side of the frame to which you are referring.

I've used to send to Polish account. Very easy, works great for me

That’s never been an issue for me, have always used blue loctite or equivalent.

No argument there.
There's more than one way to skin a cat.
I favour mechanical. :) -

Stuck ALU blanking bolt in the threads of an aluminium frame... Screw removers didn't work as ALU is very "soft" so the screw out bit just made a bigger hole...
...all blanking bolts are aluminum. Against steel threads. Hi, breaking & alusteel marriages. Really not ideal I'll put plastic ones on now, ugly but safe.
So it's been drilled and now the pain of removing the last bits starts. I don't dare to use oven cleaner as it's an ALU frame.
Is there anything to speed the removal of what's left up? Or it's hours of "fun" with a Dremel the only way?

Thread a tap down the bolt hole to chase the thread once you've drilled out everything except the thread of the seized bolt.

Recommended budget 700c disc tubeless wheelset & tyre combo for road / "gravel"? Thanks
-
• #89437
Also interested in this. Was pondering building something myself.
-

It's a good idea to chase it anyway after all this, I'll order a tap. More grinding to do before I get it down to that...
Tx :)

My favourite bar tape is SRAM Supercork, is there anything similar but a bit cheaper?

Got loads (sack full) of punctured tubes that I'm not going to repair. Is there somewhere I can recycle them?
-

Is there a bike for somewhere / something project near you?
There's a bikes for asylum seekers/refugees/people with nothing because they've left horror project off Sunray ave near Denmark hill.
I dropped off a frame and loads of similar things. -

Certainly that’s the traditional method, not sure if loctite has been utilized in flaying said moggies.
-

Cut out all the ones with removable valve cores and flog then as special tubeless valves

These guys are appealing for tubes for up-cycling in Malawi.

Came across this image on a list of 'beautiful magazine covers', but it had no further information, and my googling has come up empty; anyone recognise it and have a weblink to the title?

How come they don't make quill stems with 31.8mm clamps?
-
• #89448
Because gaining stiffness in the bar is a little pointless with a quill stem?
Because they're exceptionally ugly?

79$ seems so steep for something so simple.
Just surprises me that there aren't any cheapo / mass market versions.

Here's an eBay ripoff which I assume is cheaper than the real thing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/J-L-Vintage-Classic-70-80s-NOS-Threaded-Quill-Stem-31-8-80mm-22-2mm/292398008152?hash=item4414478758:m:mkIb-cKBgPSNq5K0zSgy4gw
I'm pretty sure they do a rack specific version of that - with flange either side of the lamp to put your bolt through - or have you already made your purchase?
Like this? Or have I misunderstood you completely? - Which I think I may've ;-), and, on reflection, I see little reason why what you've written there^ wouldn't work.
