But what does the banjo do?
Anyway, that seems a much more reasonable price for the 505s, I’ll order those. Thanks

But what does the banjo do?
Allows hydraulic fluid to pass from a hose to a bolt hole which is at right angles to the hose axis, and allows the hose axis to be aligned in any direction on the plane orthogonal to the bolt axis.

So gives more options on where the hose and caliper can be placed? Makes sense. I’m guessing that road bikes don’t need quite so much flexibility given that the frames tend to be the standard double triangle rather than the weird and wonderful shapes of MTBs?

How much will the geo and handling affect by going from 45mm to 43mm rake forks?
-
• #86806
45mm to 43mm
Assuming the axle to crown length is unchanged, changing front tyre pressure by 5psi will be more noticeable.
-
• #86807
fair enough, a-to-c the same, essentially there is a fork I want but only comes in 43mm rake, the current one is 45mm.its 40mm not 45mm. Drastic difference?

12.5psi?

Posted in the other thread, as well, but just for reference:

Generic cheap track hub axles will be what thread pitch?
If an axle is just sold as 10mm x length is it pretty likely to fit?
-
• #86811
Should fit as they are usually (allways?) M10x1

Cheers.
Just need to decide if its easier to space a 120mm hub to fit the frame or to build a new wheel with a 135mm trials hub and use a bolt on cog.
Well, it's definitely easier to space out a hub, but my front chainline seems to be 50mm which isn't gonna play nicely with a respaced 120mm hub.
I'm sure I've used the same front setup (Sram Rival cranks, chainring in outer position) with a 120mm hub on my pompino and teh chainline was fine though.
Hmmm...

Why not? Respace the hub to 50mm chainline then redish the wheel.
-
• #86814
I suppose it's only gonna be like 3mm innit. Kinda weirded out that I had that chainset on the pomp and it worked though.

Still insignificant, given how people change their trail by more than that by changing tyre size and pressure. If you can detect a pea under the mattress you might be able to tell the difference in back to back testing of 40 vs. 45 if you kept everything else exactly the same. I can't even tell the difference between 30 and 43, but maybe I'm an insensitive brute.

Got a lifeline sprocket and lockring recently, can't vouch for its longevity but it's stood up to some mistreatment so far and can't see any reason why it won't continue that way.

Et tu brute
-
• #86818
fair, I think I'll keep looking for matching rake forks.
-
• #86819
is this the latest excuse re DBAD?
-
• #86820
ah no .. this is for Moots, my never ending 1 1/8 Enve search continues; this was a bargain: https://moots.myshopify.com/collections/forks/products/moots-road-fork?variant=10679911237
-
• #86821
Why is it a never ending search? There's been 2 on here
-
• #86823
You won't notice the difference and you'll have matching forks, go for it!
-
• #86824
I still have an as new Enve stealth road fork in the attic...

Easier to whitelist non-fuckwits, no?
Also, leave Facebook. Problem solved.
That is too much, RS505 calipers are about €75 for both at Bike24
