Giro Rumbles look nice but my feet hurt from looking at the pictures. They look so incredibly small. Hoped for a better solution. I've seen a way to convert normal shoes into SPD but it doesn't look proper at all

It is a curse. I've found that some NorthWave shoes are decently wide enough.
I hope 3D printing shoes becomes more of a thing then -

I've done that with a pair of trainers https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/134357/?offset=950#comment10150444 . It works and not too uncomfortable. You need quite a thick sole to stop the cleat hitting the floor as you walk though, to do it on a pair of shoes you'd maybe need to build the sole up a bit which could look strange.

Cheers. Sounds worth a try.

I have recently purchased two wall hooks off Amazon to hang some bikes up.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CS53BD8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Based on the pictures and other pictures of products for sale that are more or less the same design, I thought that the hook part would be fixed. Now that they have arrived I see that the hook is actually articulated, meaning that it hangs freely. Is this going to be a huge PITA every time I go to hang a bike? I picture myself needing three hands - two to lift and position the bike, and a third to lift the hook to the appropriate position. Or maybe in practice it won't really be an issue?

I think I will probably be better off binning these and getting a couple of these instead: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-wall-rack/

I have a pair of unused Conti Supersport which are 20-622, and are FOC if you want to collect from Forest Hill.

That would be amazing! I'll drop you a PM. Cheers :)

Where is a good place to take someone for a poshish Thai meal in central/south bank/ near the Royal Acadamy? Also where for cocktails? It's for a 30th and i've left it a bit late.

I use 2 of these.
Don't bin them, I placed a large woodscrew under the arm to lift it up so you can hook the wheel under easily. Like this...
Nobel level of geniusness IMO. It took a beer and a scratchy chin to work it out y'know :)

No where near south bank but Som Saa in Spitalfields is great.

What a brilliantly elegant solution! By attaching them to the wooden panel as you have, this also compensates for the back not being flush. I salute you.
Have you just screwed the hooks into some (MDF?) with wood screws, then? If so, how thick is the panel, and do the screws protrude through the other side?
I had intended to attach the hooks directly to a wall, but now I think I will get a wooden panel and attach that to the wall first. If I get a thick enough panel and small enough screws, that should be fine, but don't want to risk the hook getting torn off eventually.

Ta! It's an off cut of a ~1" hardwood plank IIRC from some project years ago, I screwed that to 2 uprights in the Workshop/Shed with hefty 3" woodscrews then screwed the hooky brackets with 25mm wood screws to the plank.
Being a tweaker I've set the (patented) "Hook-bit-Lifty-Uppy-Screws" at different heights to accommodate either 32C or 25C tyre/Rim sizes.
(Blinks awkwardly and pushes oversize spectacles back onto bridge of nose).

Other side of the river but Pennethornes has a nice (albeit small) cocktail selection.

Is there any consensus on how many cm of spacers are safe between headset and stem with a fork with a carbon steerer?
-
• #78220
Is there any consensus
No, but there is frequently a manufacturer's instruction. They don't seem to take account of rider weight or stem length when coming to the conclusion that 50mm is the right number.

Cheers tester, unfortunately these are the forks I bought from a forumenger (that won't fit anything bigger than a 20c), so no idea who the manufacturer is or what they recommend. I've got 40mm of spacers at the mo, with another 10mm above the stem (as is apparently a good idea to make sure I don't squish the carbon with my stem).
For reference I'm about 90kg and I've got a 130mm stem on there at the mo'.
What are my chances of imminent death/expensive dental work?

What are my chances of imminent death/expensive dental work?
The probability is driven more by the quality of manufacture than the height of your scoblestack :-)

Hmm, that'd inspire confidence if I knew who made 'em... Glad to hear it won't be the stack that kills me though.

SRAM Red 10sp cranks, 68mm BSA BB. Spacer or not? Can't remember. NDS crank is only 1mm inboard compared to the DS, so I'm guessing no

no
Get your usual CNC guy to cut some from normal tube stock.
Oh wait, you're not @mdcc_tester
