So I've just purchased Ryanair tickets and plan to put my bike on as normal baggage, their maximum dimensions are 119x119x81 and maximum weight 20kg I should be within the size and weight restrictions with the bike disassembled. Anyone done this before?

That's exactly what I use in the workshop, great for all but the largest tyres (I'm talking 3.0)

which website has the most accurate UK Rain Forecast? has anyone got any data to back themselves up?
-
• #76880
Met office? Found the Rain radar useful in the past.
No data, sorry.

If you have an iPhone, Dark Sky is great for hourly forecast.

my housemates Caad7 build (thread on here) is having a minor difficulty.
His rear wheel is a campag khamsin G3 and it fouls the drive side drop out. The cassette is on correct and has no play, doesn't need spacers but the mech hanger screws touch the lock ring and in the smallest gear, the chain rubs the frame.
Comparing visually to my shimano wheel, the nut holding the axle in sticks out further past the cassette on mine than his though I know they're different types of hub. Also without a skewer, there is still a couple of mm between the width of the axle and the dropouts so I think they need to be spaced a little bit. Any ideas?
I can post pictures if it helps -

How many teeth on the top sprocket?
8, 9, 10 or 11 speed?
-
• #76885
10, not sure on the teeth, not by it right now

Just a thought but if the top sprocket is 11t, then a 12t should stop the chain rubbing the stay.
Have you measured the OLD? The stays may be a little splayed.

Sometimes using a bigger top sprocket makes the problem worse, due to the seat stay being wider than the dropout :-)

Are the screws projecting past the inner face of the hanger? If so, putting a washer under the hanger screw heads would probably solve that part of the problem.

I rate wunderground pretty highly, detailed forecasts and has been accurate for me.
Better in my experience than met office and metcheck

Yes they do by about 2mm. The last cog on the cassette is definitely closer to the dropout than it is on my other housemates caad though he's using SRAM on fulcrums. But I thought fulcrum and campag hubs are very similar. It's just that the axle nuts seem to be only protruding past the cassette by 1 or 2mm and so the cassette is very close to the frame once tightened up. OLD doesn't really matter I don't think since once the skewer is on, they're pulled in or pushed apart to the correct width anyway Shirley

Hadn't thought of that.

True, but it could help identify if the problem is with the wheel or possibly the frame.

doesn't seem to be with the frame, the amount the nut protrudes from the cassette is VERY small, it just seems wayyyy close for comfort when the other wheelsets I've seen (although they were shimano/sram) seem to have much better clearance. will update with pictures in a bit, our only thoughts were to use a washer of some sort to add a bit of clearance but id rather fix it properly if I can!
Edit: btw its my bike @PhilDAS was talking about.

Another wheel we have in the house (shimano cassette) i know the 2 are completely different but on the matter of spacing figured they would be fairly simialr and having out a shimano wheel in my frame to test it seems to aleviate the problem and create enough clearance for the chain.

forecast.io is good (same people as dark sky)

You need to measure the OLD of the hub (easier said than done).
This will confirm if the hub is coming up short and if so, by how much (which you'll need to know to correct it).
You could also check the Campag tech docs for an exploded view.

Belt drive; is it any good or just another part that will die out?
-
• #76899
I like mine but for all the faff I'd stick with a chain as I don't think the benefits make up for all the issues.

What sort of issues have you had? I'm guessing maintenance for one. I'm not interested in getting one, just interested in to how they run.
Seconded, Ikea.
