That link doesn't link :(
Shimano Un-55 is my first choice if that helps...

I think it was a hollowtech II BB, just grab whatever is cheapest and replace it a little sooner.

Has the front mech hanger been hacked off? Is there anything to be concerned about? What questions would you be asking?

Pssst, the link is wrong (has lfgss stuff on the front).

^^
could just be touch up paint from where a band on FD has been fitted, which would be more period correct I would think, but I'd definitely want a closer pic of that point, as it could be damaged there

No idea why it's not working...editing shows no lfgss text at all.
Thanks Branwen.
Actually it says: “good condition, no dents, cut the hook from the front derailleur”
Move on?

Bit late to this and sorry if its been mentioned but DuoLingo is fun. You won't exactly become fluent (more like passable holiday German) but its a great start.
EDIT: Just noticed its already been mentioned. And rubbished. Oh well. Works for me. Just messing about.

spotted this thing the other day and was curious
If there's one thing you should avoid even more than ceramic bearings, it's cheap ceramic bearings :-)
Shimano BB-R60 is the #tester_approved HT2 BB, cheap enough to be considered a service item. If you want it to come out easily, use Copaslip on the threads. I mean, use Copaslip anyway, but I've had stuff come out like new which has been put together with Copaslip two decades earlier. Ordinary lubrication grease will wash out and/or dry out much sooner, as you have discovered.

Slow reply, but this very site uses PostgreSQL and the built-in search engine. It's the same search engine that powers Wikipedia.
The only difficult thing in adding search is structuring the search priorities and ensuring that results only contain things you are allowed to view (permissions filtered).
It's basically trivial to add search to a site if the database is PostgreSQL.

is the Kinesis CXD fork an earlier iteration of the CX Disc, or are they two different models?

I snapped a time cleat bolt. I'm looking for some generic m5 countersunk bolts as replacement. Does anyone know the length of the cleat bolts?

Anyone got any recommendations for DIY mudguard flaps that don't look shit?
-
• #74491
It's something that crops up every year or so in the Mudguards thread.

The only real conclusion seems to be that 'don't look shit' is (perhaps literally?) in the eye of the beholder. I will of course claim that my approach is superior to all others in that you could make it any shape size colour or pattern you like.

Nice one, cheers!

11-12mm for SPDs, according to the ones in my parts bin. Beware of generic M5 countersunk screws, they usually have 3mm hex sockets whereas genuine SPD screws have a compound shaped head to make room for a 4mm hex socket. If the 3mm doesn't round out when you fit them it certainly will when you try to get them out.

I'm trying to add a filter into gmail to auto-forward specific emails. I can set up the conditions fine but I can't find an option to forward emails without adding a forwarding account and then I need access to that account as gmail sends a validation email. I don't have this as the point is to forward Uber emails to the app I use for expenses.
Am I missing something, is there not a straightforward way to forward specific emails in gmail?

Here's a piece of string question but what's the minimum amount of seatpost I need to have in the seat tube to stop me dying? I weigh 80kg. The seatpost (Campag Record carbon) has been cut at a lovely angle by the previous user.

I aim for one third of the overall length and I'm not dead... yet.

No amount of overlap between seat tube and seat post can prevent death. You'll be buggered if you have less than 50mm in any case, or less than 1/4 of the total length for posts longer than 200mm.

What is the account you are trying to forward them to? More specifically, what application does that account/app use to receive email? Even more specifically, does it verify DMARC?
Uber sends its receipts using the Header From domain of uber.com
This domain has a DMARC record which uses a blocking policy of "Quarantine". That is, any emails that purport to be from uber.com and do not pass the required authentication checks will be sent to the spam folder. Then next step for them will be to implement a Reject policy which will delete the same bad emails before they get to the intended address.
The main reason for me brining this up is that Uber are likely authenticating the emails they send well enough to reach the address you registered with them. Gmail will run a DMARC check and it will pass.
Once you auto forward this email, the Header From domain of uber.com will likely be retained and if it goes to another environment that checks DMARC, that will again check that the email is still well enough authenticated to pass.
Now, forwarding definitely breaks one of the two required authentication protocols (SPF) leaving only DKIM to authenticate the email to a degree that the Quarantine policy isn't enacted which will send the email to the spam folder.
DKIM can survive the forwarding process but it needs to be carefully configured to do so.
Uber appear to be sending their DMARC reports to our competitor so I don't put any faith in them having been able to set this up well enough (the fact they are still at Quarantine and haven't yet moved to Reject is one sign they are stuttering).
TLDR - if you set up an auto forward, the emails might not get to where you want to send them because the anti-domain-spoofing protocols could send it to the spam folder.
You'd be better off doing it manually until ARC is introduced.

Just checked my last Uber receipt email.
They do sign DKIM and it passes but the way they do it means that it won't survive auto-forwarding. They have included the To: field in their DKIM signature which means that when the email is forwarded, the To: field will be changed and when the DKIM check is carried out at the forwarded to mailbox, it will have changed and will cause DKIM to fail.
So, failed DKIM and failed SPF means that DMARC will also fail. At which point the verifier will enact the Quarantine policy and send the email to the spam folder.

What's the best way to order a PAC designs bag? I see they have a Facebook page but I don't have a Facebook account. What would I expect to pay for a large rucksack?
Cheers
There was a load of thick white grim old gone off/contaminated grease. I'll blame Ribble for that one.
All cleaned up and with a brand new BB and plenty of fresh grease in there now.
Edit: to be fair, it's been in that bike since new (about 5 years ago) and been ridden pretty much every day for commuting, touring and general riding in all kinds of shit weather with absolutely no care or maintenance (of the BB anyway).
Out of interest, are these bottom brackets worth considering?
